Here's the latest update on her progress folks .. intercooler airflow looks like when it's finished cleanly it will look stock standard fitment . .
rest is coming along nicely .. about 50% painted with first cover over base coat .. IE needs to be sanded at 800 to 1200 then based again before...
burp the bitch .. park on slope wait to cool fully .. open reservoir tank .. start and idle for 4 or 5 minutes .. shake car vigorously to dislodged any air .. all this with heater set to hottest and on slowest fan on obviously
I did wonder about that today as noticed my oil leak was predominantly from oil feed pipe area to turbo .. and have noticed a whistling now when turbo spools up fast
oh .. also .. I started using oil recently too .. which haven't done for 18 months prior to now
just don't understand the abbreviations .. and without pictures i could read anything and be confused .. its just how I am (IE .. not a learn by reading person)
seen these on eBay ...
red is pcv pipes setup
blue is electrical wire attached to what I presume is charcoal canister (assume because every time i go onto internet and Google 1999 agu 8l 1.8t images of motor i get the same S3 pics you guys have on here !!!!
yeah I take it that's what is in pictures as i can't work out where some of the hoses go to or come from on your pics .. cos they're not in same position as mine .. plus I don't have that silicone hose replacement you guys do .. mines factory pos pipe
oh!! lol .. all the pics 8 see have a weirdly small cover and hoses etc on top of engine not off to side like mine etc .. my bad
and thanks man .. you're a f...g legend
I got my first glimpse of my thermostat position and bolts today when having a good look around at where my oil leak is coming from .. whaddda ***** lol
please can someone take a pic 9f their 1.8 turbo agu and show me where catch can goes and where pipes run to .. using thumbnails on here as i don't have photobucket )can't afford it) or any 3rd party way of seeing pics
my engine bay is pictured below .. seems different to everyone else's on here
Sanded back bonnet and scoop now so ready to start bog amd fibreglass blending then it'll be painting time .. yay .. just got to make the scoop blend into bonnet more (sticks out a bit too abruptly for my liking)
here in image 1 is the pill by throttle itself
in image 2 there is a junction where I want to put a 2nd catch can
I want to put 2 catch cans in creating a really efficient oil blow by removal system whilst keeping pcv there if possible or is it best to delete pcv totally
