I had a “spirited” drive on a “private” strip of tarmac in my S5 against a colleague of mine at work in his 435D Xdrive Gran coupe, I can confirm the S5 tore him a new one (for want of a better word), standing starts, mid range and particularly top end, it pulled car lengths on him over quarter...
Might sound strange but it seems to improve with time, either that or my ears got used to it lol.
I don't personally think it's that bad, to my ears it's considerably better than some standard systems I've had in the past, as previously mentioned though it's very subjective.
@MadWill
If you're an audiophile or have a high expectation of sound output/performance would it be outrageous to suggest you should have paid the money to upgrade the system to B&O?
As per comments above, most people accept the *** is a good compromise between quality and price. If you need...
It very much depends how you drive and which drive mode you predomantly use.
If you drive around in efficiency (or auto/comfort at low revs) the car will spend most of its time gassing through the single exhaust tip, if you drive in Dynamic (or individual set as so) the exhaust valves will...
Obviously a bit late for you in this instance, but if you wipe the tips with WD40 or similar when you clean the car they're MUCH easier to clean.
I do it each time I clean the car, takes 2 minutes and keeps them as good as new.
Hopefully you'll be able to get them swapped out and add the step...
Always worth getting a settlement figure and valuation.
I got out of a TTS after 18 months effectively Scott free, but I did negotiate a decent discount on it in the first place.
This is obviously all very subjective, but I agree that the *** isn't bad at all, it's far better than the standard systems I've had in BMW's and Merc's in the past, and very close in my opinion to the upgraded B&O in the current A4/5 range.
Absolutely, either the traction control killing the power or stick it in MDM and spin the cr@p out of the rear wheels, loved it in the summer but was a ball ache for the rest of the year!
I've owned a lot of nice cars that I haven't bonded with for one reason or another, but the S5 has hit a...
Congrats on the new car mate. I came to my S5 Sportback from an F10 M5 so very similar story to you, only my M5 was stolen which kind of forced the situation lol!
The S5 is obviously no where near the same league from a power and torque perspective, but the power is way more usable on a daily...
Yeah does the same, although I'm pretty sure my 2015 Stronic TTS did the same, perhaps not loading up quite so much but the clutch was engaged and slipping when you held the brake prior to launching it.
It does have a launch function though, driving mode set to Dynamic>stability control off>gearbox in Sport>left foot on brake>floor accelerator>revs will rise and hold at 3k RPM>release brake> launch.
Works pretty effectively on mine considering it's a torque converter auto.
