I have the Saris Bones 3 rack (Thanks for the advice MikeA3). It clears the (S3) spoiler no problem, which I know is a problem with a lot of other racks. It's also adjustable to fit any type of car be it hatchback, saloon, whatever. I've had 2 mtb's on it at motorway speeds without any problems...

Looks like this might be the answer alright, I'm just a bit concerned about how the rack holds the bikes themselves. I have a (2000) Gary Fisher Sugar, which has an unusual shaped top tube, will the bike fit in the rack ok? Thanks again for all the info guys. Marc

Hey, thanks for the advice guys. had a look at the saris rack, looks pretty good, and not a rip off either. Mike, does the rack hold the bike along the top tube? Just want to be sure my bike will fit. My spoiler isn't perfectly flush with the roof, will that affect it at all? Cheers Marc

Oh yeah, and the fact that all the mud and $hite from the bikes would end up all over the car with a roof mounted carrier, not good!

I can get one of the towbars for about €150, and I have a tow bar mounted bike rack from an old car, so at least wouldn't need to buy one of those. Theres a little gap between the spoiler and roof, but I'd be afraid the weight of the bikes (especially over bumps) might just pull the...
