Cheers, but it's definitely the ABS. With the ABS unit disconnected it doesn't happen. Top suspect at the moment is a cracked reluctor ring. I've had this before with similar symptoms (different car) - although it did it all the time coming to the end of a stop, not just turning left.

Removed mine at the w/e to clean it - it's a Pierburg. Having cleaned it (just by squirting lots of contact cleaner through the gauze on to the sensor) car is possibly more responsive, but more noticably doesn't cut the turbo over 3k rpm which it occasionally used to. Didn't notice any torx...

Hi, my ABS seems to cut in under gentle or firm braking - but get this - ONLY when turning left (however gently)! The classic scenario is pulling up at a roundabout, or a T-junction to turn left. The pedal will 'pump' what feels like once a wheel revolution or so - not a constant grumble...

AFAIK up to about 2000 all V6 tdis were 150bhp. You're best bet must be a whole donor car from around the same year as yours. You could start needing a subframe, shocks, brakes, driveshafts, exhaust - I don't know but all these things could be different for the bigger, torquier V6. If yours...

I think that pipe's the brake assist pipe. Presumably a leak there would affect the vacuum/boost which actuates the EGR and turbo control valves. Or something...
