Did some more testing today on the grossglockner in Austria together with an Audi RS3 8V. With cooling the discs were 41*C and the RS3 8V without cooling were 119*C. After 20km's of downhill from the Grossglockner the temperature with cooling was 143*C and without cooling >250*C.

That's is an option or you could place them differently to get the same effect. Or you cut a bit of plastic as seen in the images.

Indeed plastic would have done, but carbon is more brittle. Although the scoop is only 15mm IF you would hit something this carbon scoop will shatter and not rip your skid guard out underneath your car. That is why it is made of carbon and not from sheet metal or anything else.
