this may be a silly question but do you have to drop the whol suspension arm down or can you replace them by just compressing the spring and loosesning the fixing bolts?? I suspect it will require the whole arm to be dropped?

My stereo in my 1999 1.8T, i think its the symphony one, standard with the car, has aprobelm with the volume knob. When its cold, you cannot change the volume, it either off or on really loud. Then when it gets warm in the car it starts working ok again. I would imagine its a compensation...

Mine seems to stay around the 28Mpg marks, in the summer it was upto 30. It does do better on the longer runs, keeping off the boost, but whres the fun in that!

yeah, it feels as if something is loose, it doesnt knock going over speed bumps, it only knocks going over those little bumps in the road, and it feels as thought it is right underneath your feet...... the only reason i thought it was the steering is that it makes a clonking noise changing...

I might just have to check that out myself too, although the knocking feels as though it is under my feet in the drivers footwell.... would that be the strut mounts? (i have changed the antil roll bar and wish bone bushes)........

Done the job now...... would have done it easy but one of the bush bolts was made of cheese and rounded off, and the ball joint decided to spin around with the nut....... but other than that really easy....... I think i have a wheel bearing gone tho, humming noise when driving.... and a ickle...

I have got a really annoying knocking noise on my 1.8t....... It only happens over the little bumps....... had a look underneith this morning and saw this bush in not so good condition...... They easy to replace or is as easy to buy a wishbone with the already pressed in???

Thanks guys, that puts my mind at ease, it has got a 12 month warrenty so if anything does go i can tale it from them................. I will top it up later, like you say only on a cold morning or cold start, does not do it if you have been out in it a couple of hours ago.............
