Hi Guys,
I know there's a BMW section on these forums but know one really seems to post there.. so I thought I'd ask here.
I've got the opportunity to buy a 1998 R plate BMW 328i SE with 75000 on the clock with full BMW service history for £7000.
The car looks clean, it's very quiet (in the...
Get rid of the Dunlops m8, I can't stress how much I agree with AndyMac on this... the handling on my A4 was scary to say the least when I first had it.. changed the tyres to Goodyear NCT5's (if I'm remembering correctly.. it's too cold to go out to the car and check..) - the difference is...
Have taken the car in.. theres nothing wrong with the suspension etc.. my Mechanic has decided it'll be one of the CV joints.
I'll be getting that fixed pretty soon. Gotta find the cash first, though he says it isn't urgent as Audi over engineer parts anyway it'll last quite a while...
I apologise if you've had this post a million times before..
I've got an A4 1995 with a CCCTech chip on it. The chip is the only mod on it which takes it to 116bhp.
Any recommendations for insurance companies?
Cheers
Gareth
Well it's booked in for Sat now. The steering itself seems exactly the same as it was before car met pothole - there's no pulling to one side or anything, there's no vibration or movement through the steering wheel to suggest perhaps a warped brake disc and it stops in a straight line if you...
Hi,
As the title suggests occasionally when I'm going round an island or a right hand bend (doesn't happen on a turn into a road normally - tight turn) I hear and feel a grinding which I think is from the front passenger side wheel. It tends to be worse on an island when there is more g force...
I've recently bought Clarksons new DVD "Shoot-out". Why oh why doesn't he let someone else drive?? Pretty much everycar he drives in the vid he spins, and you get treated to seeing him spin each car about ten times. A prime example is the new TVR which he claims has fantastic handling only to...
Cheers!
Much appreciated.
I shall have a look at that tomorrow.
Merry Christmas!
P.S Just a thought, if I'm removing the battery to get at these holes are there any things to be wary of? it's a 95/96 1.9Tdi.
Which wing? Drivers or passenger side? Is it underneath the battery or the computer?
The trick with the hoses just drains the water to the ground from inside the engine bay so there's no way it can get into the car.
Cheers
Gareth
Hiya,
I've noticed recently since the wet weather has hit that the area in the engine bay where the battery sits accumulates water.
Is there supposed to be any sort of drainage system for this? I only ask because whenever it is like this (usually about an inch of water in there) and I go...
Well I'm pretty sure that Texaco and Shell are the best in mine.. I always run the tank down so I'm not mixing much old stuff with the new diesel.. and I've tried various brands.
Texaco seems to be slightly better than Shell - pulls a bit better on the motorway.
I don't know about anyone else on here.. but I've noticed a difference in the performance of my A4 TDi depending upon which type of fuel I put in it.
I've had it chipped to 120bhp and the difference is all the more noticable.
It seems to have a bit more grunt under Texaco or Shell than it...
SUPERB!!!! I cannot believe the difference this chip has made, and even though I had an "older" ECU as Simon put it he was still happy to upgrade it..
The thing wheelspins in 2nd now (and I'm not trying - it just happens cuz I'm not used to the new characteristics of the car) and all through...
Cheers m8
I'll have a look - last time I had the cover off I didn't notice a cable going to anything around that area.. so thats probably it..
Thanks for the help!
I'll try, I'm going round my mates tomorrow and he's got a high quality digital cam, not the £50 thing I've got.. so I'll take another pic then.
I take it the breather hose doesn't need to be connected then?
I've found a cable with a blue connector (same type as the cables connected to the engine sensors) on the end which isn't plugged into anything (it's located directly at the back of the engine underneath the air hose for the turbo)
and what looks like a breather pipe (which is just cable tied...
