First of all, a massive thanks to @adamss24 for your help via telephone, made a huge difference on time!! Well, it took just under 2 full days and me helping a mechanic friend to pull it all apart and slap it all back together!! (it was the first time he had done a 2.5tdi so we took our time)...

Car not starting ... dreaded pump failure?

Yeah baby, she's alive!! Put the new battery in, squirted a bit of brake cleaner in the intake (as after a few attempts I could not see any fuel being pumped nor did she start) and viola!!! she sparked up (sounding a bit rough). I could see the fuel going through the pipes as normal and she...

Car not starting ... dreaded pump failure?

Hi again guys, I appreciate the feedback I have had in the past, specially from Chris, a godsend tbh!! I have noticed that when my car was parked on a hill (facing upwards) it took longer to start, got very temperamental sometimes, even on the flat and a puff of smoke from time to time after...

    2.5TDi (and others) Thermostats

OK, so I had a look at mine today, maybe someone can shed some light as to where I must cut and insert, here's a few pics of mine: Heres the connection to the radiator: The main hose seems to flow from the expansion tank down but not straight to the radiator: {The arrows indicate...

DIS display slanted, anyone else experience this?

Hi guys, My diplay in the cluster (DIS) is slanted slightly to the left, it looks off and is very annoying to the eye, anybody else experience this or am I alone in this? If you have, did you get it repaired? Can I do anything in VCDS Lite to ammend it? reboot? something? Cheers

    2.5TDi (and others) Thermostats

Also, I can see here that there are 2 hoses on the right and 1 hose (radiator or block) on the left in the first (untouched) photo. What are the internal dimensions of each of those hoses? I have read the rad hose is 28mm (ID) and the top hose is 10mm, maybe 15mm the bottom hose? Can someone...

    2.5TDi (and others) Thermostats

Bit of a dumb question maybe but can any of you show me a picture of how the R5/340 stat has been inserted? Which end faces where? and what is all this about cutting the hose? Why? Where? What's used to seal it afterwards?

    Another hydro mount thread!

Hi again guys, I am slightly confused as to which hydro mount I have to buy, I read somewhere that the B5 hydro mount fits as in essence is exactly the same mount but with totally different part numbers. The part number for mine is 8E0199369A/AF (I think) and the part number for the B5 is...

Timing belt, Water pump, idlers, pulleys, etc for 2.5tdi

Chris, I hear you, something about the join line on the Daycos that doesn't do it for many people!! I don't understand though, I watched Wheeler Dealers a while back anf they bought a Lambo (Old School) and I saw the belt "Dayco", I thought, "WTF?" must be different manufacturing for high class...

Timing belt, Water pump, idlers, pulleys, etc for 2.5tdi

I am going to check the pulley as the car has been standing for around 4 months and I have given her a bit of an "opening" over the past week, not being too adventurous as the thermostat is stuck open so don't want to do any permanent damage!! I am a stickler for leaving bolts in their place...

Timing belt, Water pump, idlers, pulleys, etc for 2.5tdi

Hi guys, busy Easter!!! Chris, do you have something against Gates? I don't mean this in a provocative manner it's just that I have always used them on my previous cars and use them to date with absolutely no issues. I have found their quality to be excellent, I always thought they were...

Squealing, Squeaking, grinding and expecting more ... 2.5 TDI

Thanks Tom, The only thing I can see Audi didn't do right was tightening this bolt but on a bonus side, it has had (before my ownership) new discs, pads, bearings (front 2) just before I bought it and it has had them bedded in properly. From what I can make out the guy before me has really...
