Simplest way to tell is that the clock in the dash is digital on the facelift and analogue on the pre-facelift.
Most important changes are that the facelift have vented rear discs and different exhaust manifolds that are less likely to drop bits into your turbos.
The engine differences...

my 02 s4 made realy great power more than normal and now my left turbo sounds oddly like a super charger, has anyone had this problem.

Sounds like an air leak - split F hose perhaps leading to over spinning of the turbos
Hi Dummi,
Just looked in your signature and see that you have an A6 2.7T with a high spec engine.
Have you fitted the oil cooler to your gearbox?
Have been thinking about S4 or A6 2.7T - chipped.
Was looking in the Audi study guide and note that no oil cooler fitted to the A6 gearbox as...
With the VW/Audi coolant you should never mix G11 with G12. - There is a risk of it going lumpy!
G12+ (pink) will mix with either.
All that I can buy from my VW dealer is G12+ Must be same for Audi.
£6.50 for 1.5 litres to then dilute to about 40% concentration.
Cheaper than Halfords.
Tesco 99 good midrange
BP Ultimate best top end
Optimax better than Shell 95 but not as good as BP Ultimate
Tesco 95 a bit variable - from many different suppliers
Asda 95 a bit variable but one lot was very good. - From many different suppliers.
105 octane race fuel gave very good results.
All...
Apparently it used 5% bio-ethanol - so we are doing our bit for the environment too.
Write up in this months EVO magazine where Optimax, BP Ultimate, Tesco 99 were tested against Shell 97 and Asda normal unleaded.

Wow a moderator, never seen that before. 2 guesses who snitched... Sorry to all the old stiffs who were a bit scared by my language and references to Will Young.

18000 miles a year in a 20mpg car? You are really going to feel the fuel costs.
Let's do the math...

OK, if you do a lot of miles and drive at a steady 70mph you will probably see 28 mpg combined.
Most 2.7T's are getting long in the tooth (the newest are coming up for 5 years old) - the
other costs are very high.
Town driving and having fun, you will not see much more than 20 mpg...
It's not a case of having to worry about the MPG - when purchasing anything it' better to be informed about the costs. If you look at my earlier post the difference between some of the "heresay" figures 18 - 28 mpg represents a difference of £1400 - I don't know of anyone to whom this is an...
Nothing heard from Audi Customer services. Unsurprisingly.
MWStewart - thanks for that. Low 20s hmmmm.
Interesting what you say about consumption with mods not being affected unless using the power.
I guess that's the benefit of a modern forced induction engine.
Not sure if Audi is the same as VW but had problems a few years back with my Corrado which sound the same.
Car would start normally and then cut out after about half or one seconds running.
There is a chip reader around the ignition switch which confirms the presence of the chip in the...
Just out of interest I have e-mailed Audi customer services asking them why there isn't any information of this type on their website. They should be back to me in the next few days.
It is buyers of used cars that influence what the residual values of the new cars they produce will be.

I get about 23mpg on average according to the computer. On a long run I would say I get about 350 miles to a tank, If I just drive around town about 200 miles. Costs around £50 for a tank of optimax. My driving style is very grown up with the odd boy racer moment !
I think you need to...

Thanks for all of the replies. Some constructive (docurley), some not!
I refer you back to what I quoted in my first post:
"Lots has been posted about fuel consumption but as this depends so much on:
Health of car
Type of journeys
Modifications
Driving style
Although it has been of interest...

Not sure but maybe your find it amongst this lot.

Wow - a fantastic amount of info there!
Can't find any official Audi figures there.
Can anyone look in their handbook or does anyone have an original Audi brochure from when the car was new?
