Hi
I'm in Ireland and I got a letter from MDL (Audi Ireland) asking me to come in for a recall relating to the brake servo pipe on MY98 A3's.
Do any of you guys konw what this entails and what the effect of the part has.

I agree with AudiSi, my dealer advised changing between 60-70k. It may be something to do with the MY mine is MY98 maybe later models can last longer. But 115k sound like pushing your luck seeing as if it breaks its going to cost a lot more then a belt change.
I had my pump replaced at my 60k service when the timing belt was being changed as from a labour cost perspective it was cheaper to have it changed then then wait for a failure before replacing it.

I'm not sure if its a major problem if it is the thermostat the coolant is running all the time and keeps the the engine temp down but this may result in keeping the oil temp down.
If your dealer is local I would pop in and talk to one of the mechanics to check. Seeing as you are going to get...
I have the ETKA, downloaded it from EKTA download
Its about 500Mb so only try if you have broadband or a lan connection.
The one I'm looking for is the A3 section of the ELSA which is the repair manual.

A3 Engine
I had the same question a while back, if you put your finger on top of the box above the (23) in the diagram and you can feel a ticking then its the charcoal filter. Its perfectly normal on a 1.8T engine according to my local dealer.
