    Thanks for the feedback, NHN - always appreciated. Indeed, I selected : A3 New Style Vent, 2004-2011 A3, CN ...just following up. I thought the only difference is they grind the sides for me so I dont have too.

    so the cutout in the dash is 24cm and the vent is 28cm. I'd need to trim all the way round 5mm. There wont be much plastic left, so may as well cut it

    Nice! As I've removed the mirrors before that'll be fine. The actual bits I will need doing is the VCP and well....the heating sensor in the seat on the drivers side :scared2: As for the vent, hmm not quite the same as the 8V either. I cutout the inner ring on the dash and removed the rubber...

    Manage to release the pin - for anyone else: insert a hair pin into the holes/gaps either side and then yank. It'll release the pin. I tried with a few other tools made specifically for this but no dice, surprisingly a hair pin worked. If you want the repair wire part no: 000979 406E
