Having been in the motor trade as a mechanic for nearly 20yrs ...im not a fan of engine flushes
Most garages ive worked at in the past used oil flushes and will sell it to you as a good thing for your engine but at the end of the day its all about making some extra cash really.

Just heading out for a wee drive:racer:

Engine ?
Still cant see it being anything other than the thermostat as it shouldnt cool down on road. Normally when temp sensor goes wrong it reads wrongly all the time and if totally ******** fault code flagged.Have changed loads of temp sensors over the years
Fair enough on the garage id say since they were only asked to change thermostat, probs only ran round block to check up to temp ....would doubt on a genuine part being faulty but you never know
What age / engine is the A3 ?
Does sound like thermostat fault to be fair like its stuck open.....cheap thermostat?
If its been done at a garage should get him to take it back they should look at it free of charge if they supplied the part:thumbsup:
If you have vcds you can check temp value for engine ecu 01 and check temp value for dash ecu 17 as temp sensor feeds both seperately value should be the same if not replace temp sensor
Does sound odd i would also have said thermostat if at 90 in town and then drops down out of town
Right i had a rake through my paperwork this is all i can tell you .... Fuel Pump part number XFP4041 and it cost me £176.31 + vat @trade pretty sure TPS wanted £230 ish + vat for the same part, i wouldnt guess at what the whole unit cost was
I remember the pump came allready in a white...
Yes you can just replace the pump part of the unit ... i did... was easy to do when youve got the whole unit out. I got the pump part from Dingbro my parts supplier was way cheaper than Audi/TPS aint genuine part tho...however the old genuine part looked absolutely identical to the new one even...
Cheap clutch kit ?what brand was it ?
manufacturers warranty on part is usually 1yr ....get garage to sort it out for free ...garage will have to claim from manufacturer or motor factors that supplied part.... for parts and labour will be covered if clutch was faulty
