Hi all,
Has anyone any experience of EGR blanking on the 3.0tdi. As far as I can see the EGR provides Nox reduction at the expense of worse fuel economy, a less responsive engine and loads of sooty greasy crap in the intake.
I did a quick blank off of mine today ( using thin shim inbetween...
Sounds a bit daft this, but have you checked the wheel nuts are tight/ My mate came round with a knocking noise on his and the wheel was loose. The guy who painted the wheels didn't tighten one of them up!
worth a look?
My local audi dealer did say they would contribute based on the fact the car had full audi dealer history ( even though I didn't buy it from them. This would have been either me paying for the parts or the labour. - in the end I did it my self as either way was going to cost £350.
Try them...
There are no circles on the photos so difficult to see what you are asking. the item appears to be the EGR valve that is attached to the egr cooler and change over valve. egr system creates black sooty gunk but not usually oil. my guess is the oil was spilt during the removal of the filter or...
No worries John, I can't doubt your experience, - i wish there was a way of isolating the MIL light for this fault only ( using VCDS) prob with having the light on all the time is that if another fault occurs you'd miss it.
cheers
I think My reasoning is that I have 1 perfectly almost new bank and one knackeredd. I am able to do the work myself and I already have car mapped up for working flap manifolds..... so for £380 I can fix.
Would like to know others sucesses with blanking off and remapping though.
one thing I...
I have not really looked in to that much - what i figured was if it were that simple Audi wouldnt waste money in the first place fitting them. if you remove them and remap, there will be too much air at low revs meaning more fuel required, so less MPG.
I'd rather it remained standard...
Yes - £380 was the price I was quoted 2 weeks ago from TPS ( the VW trade part specialists ) .
this price included the flap section and the motors. This was for my 3.0tdiTDV 233bhp 2007 model.
I will be forking out and replacing the worn one on mine, even though it still works there is...
You can buy just the motors for about £180 from audi, But if you need the rod or the flap section you have to buy the whole part. @£380 plus vat. The effect of them being broken is less torque higher up the rev range and an increase in MPG - is what my research uncovered.
I took one off to...
I agree, there are loads of cowboys out there doing "remaps", but it is much more of a science than just moving a few markers on a graph. Buy cheap, buy twice is what my gran always said..........................
Acually, thinking about it, 66k is VERY early for a clutch. Why did you change it? was it worn when physically examined? Mine( same car ) is still on first clutch at 109K
I am sure it won't be the gear box. If you can't even select gear without the engine running then it is unlikely to be a clutch problem. I would say the linkage is either damaged . bent, prob as a result of the clutch swap and poor workmanship or it is simply not set up properly.
Good luck...
I had a problem with this on my B5, The battery was almost dead, would start the car but then I would get the brake warning light on for a couple of seconds. Get the battery checked, or leave it till the weather drops below zero and if its starting to go that will finish it off :-)
Yes tax is a bit dearer on the 3.0tdi at £235 / year and rising, but isn't everyones tax going up???? Whats a hundred quid between friends.
I was going to go 2.0 170 before I got my 3.0. hearing those mpg figures for the 170, glad I didn't ..... Mine is manual and I am amazed at jdp1962...
