Evening all. First problem was at the start of the week, my engine light has come up, no idea as to what is causing this as I don't have VAGCOM and the car feels absolutely fine, not sure if its something silly, is there anyway of resetting the light with out VAGCOM to see if its something silly that won't bring up the light again?

Problem 2 driving to work this morning, left my house with half a tank arrived to work with a full tank and got back home showing 3/4 of a tank, what is going on there?

Many thanks
Chris

Disconnect the battery for 10 mins will reset the ecu, however you will need to re enter the stereo code afterwards, and reconfigure the auto window up/down function. (Both easily done, just so you're aware.)

No idea on the tank contents problem.

I have vagcom in Gosport if that's any good to you, not far from Ringwood.

I'd be getting a scan done if I were you - engine light could indicate a serious issue and you should not be driving the car without knowing what is wrong. Just resetting the light will not fix whatever caused it in the first place.

on second thought - engine light, increased fuel consumption.... lambda sensor grew wings and went to lambda heaven? just a guess.

Fuel consumption is fine, its just the gauge is going up for some reason, could be the fuel sender unit, would that trigger the engine light to come on? Only thing is the light came on a few days before this problem.

Like I said - the only sure way to diagnose this is with VCDS (vagcom). sorry

The e-bay cable should be fine, but you will most likely have to buy the $99 worth of VCDS, as the error code reading function on a shareware version will show you only some of the codes IIRC.

An alternative is to get one of the local members with the cable to help you, which might be completely free.
