More new calipers to play with. ;)

Following on from my last thread where I got my hands on some lovely Alcon 6 pots for the front of My 90 and also the front of my A4, I've been looking for some 4 pots to put on the rear of both cars.
I stumbled accross some ATE 4 pots for what seemed the right money. After speaking to a few people who have used them, I did the deal and picked them up today.



Four of them are new with one of the new ones having been painted red and test fitted to a golf. Two of them have been used on a 20v trackday golf so are a little dusty.
Not sure what I'll do with all six of them as they came as a job lot, but I'll be making use of at least 4.







As you can see below, the hole spacing looks to be similar to some of the radial mount brembos.


They should take up to a 330mm x 32mm disc, so will be perfect for me.


Just over 11" end to end.

Yes mate, the car will be getting a bias pedal box with seperate cylinders for front and rear. As the car is Front wheel drive, I'll try and kerb some of the understeer by dialing in more rear bias and left foot braking. I'd cook the standard rear setup in half a lap, hence my aim to change the brakes. With an adjustable pedal box, I can then dial out the rear bias when I use it on road.
Fitting the pedal box might be a bit of a pain, but the dash is coming out anyway as I'm fabricating a weld in cage for it.

I've currently got B6 S4 rears (300mm) and previously had B5 RS4 rears (312mm). I imagine 330mm rears would actually give a decent braking distribution with those big fronts. I find with my setup (RS6 fronts) that I have slightly too much front bias.

Fingers crossed it will all work out in the end. It's all a bit of a lottery when buying used and adapting to suit.

The carriers will be custom as the AP discs have an offset to suit the Audi 80 Touring car they came off. Andy who works with me likes playing with CAD, so I'll do the measuring and he will draw something up to throw at the Machine shop we use.

I can't wait to get stuck in to the A4 as I've been really ill recently and haven't touched it for over 2 months. ;(
