:crying:WENT TO my local revo dealer the day ,car had four fault codes and they turned me away ....never been so dissapointed
the codes were related to 2 lambada sensors(new exhaust),clutch switch, and engine coolant temp reader being faulty .AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH hate my car so!!!

surely it would have made sense to make sure it was running right before you started to "tune" it?

Dont get so annoyed dude, im sure the faults are only small.

Lambda sensors fault is likely to be the first lambda ( £50 ) or your cat is dead (reason for a de cat £150)

Engine coolant temp faulty readings - new temperature sensor £20

Not sure one the clutch but you should delete them and see if they come back, could have been sorted but fault codes not deleted

Im really surprised Revo did not take the opportunity to fix your faults while it was there instead of turning you away?

Was the check light on?

WOW !! thats what tuners should do, there are so many that choose to clear the faults and continue regardless. Then we get the posts stating REVO messed my car up etc. Like so many we have seen recently ( mentioning no names)

Thumbs up from me !

I happen to agree with you aswell Mark, given that list of possible issues I wouldnt expect any tuner to do anythng until these are resolved, they should of offered to try & resolve this at a cost of course.

Maybe the tuner concerned doesnt have the facilities or time currently, as REVO can be done by many agents now

Maybe the tuner concerned doesnt have the facilities or time currently,

This is true, problem is tuning for most is a fairly profitable & quick job overall as in alot of maps are generic, depending how good they are they could make 1-2k a day, so working on repairing cars isnt as lucrative, personally I prefer a challenge, but the money you can make with mapping alone is hard to turn away huh, as you say Mark, some tuners will clear faults & wont test properly to see if they come back on a test drive, thats where you end up with issues.

Thats not bad mate...dont get bothered.
In my opinion a car must be near top shape before getting a remap, this way you make sure you get no problem later on caused by the remap.
PS: I didnt know the clutch swith does store a fault code...its an easy repair and cost around 12 from the dealer

you presume they carry spares for every eventuality, which they most likely wont

fix it, or get them to fix it if they have facilities, and all will be good

you should be greatfull they chose not to map it for a quick buck, but refer you to the faults, advise you to get them fixed before returning

remaps NEVER fix inherant faults, they only make things worse.

They have done the exact same thing I do.. except i have lambda's in stock, and spare maf elements too, coilpacks etc.. all the usual suspects when things go wrong.

It sounds like they did the right thing...why map a car thats going to have a load of issues because of the faults.

I'd be happy they turned it down if it was my car for sure, you need a clean bill of health before tinkering with things like that.

T

PS: They're all easy things to sort too so dont stress :D

now tht i look at it now ,yes checkpoint were right to turn me away ,they were very helpful.
yeah will get them fixed and try again ,4th time lucky :sadlike:

just out of interest, what stage map were you going for? I notice you've had a turbo upgrade so thought you would have had it mapped already

not yet doood, got a few more jobs on the A3 (exhaust middle section/priavte reg/tyres/plugs and air con pump) and a front mount to fit on mine before we take both down to get em done (i'm currently spending my money on diving gear and saving for the holiday on 4 weeks which is killing me :( )

bout you mate...any nearer to settin the elusive date?

Not sure yet mate. Hopefully before the end of summer.

You've already got a cc stage 1 on the S3 are you looking a stage 2 or just a new map?

sorry for the thread hijak OP

na new map mate, i dont agree that the downpipe or cats (or entire system) should be changed for a stage 2 from CC so going to R tech who will do me a stage 2 with higher boost.... to make use of the newly fitted fmic

sorry OP ;)

Tim you must work for CC or they are paying you for advertising lol

was going for stage one as bored of stock power, and my mate has a glanza and is always beating me on the straights,so need a bit to keep up with his 180horses at the front wheels, will be going stage 2 when i get around to fitting my new fmic,s3 injectors,n75j valve and decat..
looking for someone who makes a 3 inch dp for the a3 quattro but no joy ,have a s3 3inch one ,but doubt that will be going on ever as jbs are taking forever with that mani

Cant you just get a custom downpipe. Was £150 when i emailed a company.

from what i understand banshee you really dont need an upgraded manifold for the figs we are talking about...thats why im going fmic then stage 2 with rtech..... the S3 exhaust is hardly restrictive for power under 300bhp
