Hello all,
I have a pre-facelift 8P S3... Was wondering how this kind of behavior can be enabled using VCDS / Vagcom:

Using fog lights and/or indicators as DRLs.
Have had a look around module 09 at the long coding and I can't figure it out.
Several pages show up in a google search, but nothing that seems to work for an A3/S3.
Can anyone shed any light?

Cheers,
Daniel

Wouldn't that be illegal in the UK?

Maybe. And also probably in Australia too but I would like to know if it is possible...

Is this what you are after?

FOUND HERE: LINK

Enable Front Turn Signals (in the lamp assembly) To Also Be Front Parking Lights:
Follow 'Initial Steps', above, then...

Click on '09-Central Elect'

When you go into this module, it will scan for fault codes and go straight to a fault code screen. It should say 'No Fault Codes Found'. Click the 'Done, go back' button to get to the main screen for this module.

Click on 'Long Coding - 07'

You may get a pop-up warning, click 'yes' for long coding

WRITE DOWN your original long code before doing anything else at all.

Click on 'Long Coding Helper'

In the Long Coding Helper, set:

Byte 07 to '5C'

(Just set the value given for the whole byte, you don't have to flip every bit individually within the byte)

Click 'Transfer Coding'

Quit out of the Long Coding Helper

See that the new Long Code differs from the original one

Click 'Do it!'

Verify that the new Long Code is stored.

Click 'Done, go back'

Click 'Close controller, Go Back'

like said above its entirely possible you could even have it so you can switch em on and off if you bought a new lightswitch

I have a DRL switch (well on/off spinning dial anyway), it's just that it controls the bulbs next to my bixenons, not the fogs/indicators

Thanks, this is partially the solution... With this, front indicators both come on and stay on when the main bixenon headlights are on (and on low-beam (or whatever it's called) too)

And just figured out fog lights for DRLs (instead of the proper DRL bulbs next to the bixenons)
Central Electronics
Long coding
Byte 21, bit 0-2
Change from 05 Bi-Xenon Front Light with separate Daytime Running Lights (DRL) to
04 Bi-Xenon Front Light without additional High Beam
This enables the following option:
Byte 17, bit 4
Daytime Running Light via Fog Lights

The only thing I can't figure out now is how to have the front indicators come on with the fogs using the DRL switch... The desired look (more or less) can be achieved with low beam + front fogs (as the indicators now come on with low beam), but I'd prefer the low beam bulbs to be off.

So does anyone know how to enable indicators / turn signals as DRLs on the A3/S3?
