Good morning people of the 8L section. LOL.

As some of you may be aware, I have had a knocking and clunking for a while now, and it's driving me mental. And I mean mental. I have changed all of the normal consumable parts on the front suspension setup. Drop links, BBJs, ARB Bushes, Wishbone bushes front and rear, and it's been none of them.

Many of you have lowered your S3s I am well aware... So the question is for you. Do any of you still have your front shock/spring assemblies? Even the shock will do to be fair, but shock and spring is preferred.

The reason being I am trying to hunt down the source of my knocking and clunking. I have a new set of top mounts, but also want to try the shocks (without the expense of buying new in case it's not them).

If you do have any that you are willing to part with, please PM me with mileage and cost info.

Ta

Guessing two months is too long a wait fella?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Damn it, I've known about this for AGES as well, and it was pure procrastionation that stopped me from posting....

****.

Bad timing Welly, had mine sitting in the garage for years and gave them away for free to another member!

I'm hoping that someone has some lying about still. Bad timing seems to be a reoccurring theme here....

hi mate,

i have 2 decent front shocks and a maybe dodgy front spring if u want it? i am in cheltenham so it's a short trip. the price is free for ya!

Dont spose anyone has any back shocks whilst were on the subject?? :-D

I'd be interested to hear if the shocks fix the knocking. I have the same problem with mine. The shocks are standard with about 210000kms on. I have changed the ARB bushes twice as they were the normal fix.

I did discover today that the knocking goes away when your on the brakes, no matter how lightly. Making me wonder if it was the pads?

It definitely feels like it's low down and not the top mounts.

hiya Gavin, if you want some OEM replacements, pm me, Ive got mine with 90,000kms on them after recently putting some konis in mine

I'll bear that in mind Gareth, thanks. It just feels like it's from the bottom, wishbone or ball joints. I'd prefer to diagnose rather than randomly change parts. Just never get the time.

Hello all, I have a full set of front, back and springs in the garage. PM if interested. Cheltenham

Hi all

My front shock also needs replacing, does anyone have any idea about how much it would cost for a new oem part?
Or even better- where to buy a reasonably priced one from?

how abouts i fit JD09's new kit for him next time im in northwich and then bring the dampers along to welly's when i go to Bucks to pick up a mk4 ive got my eye on?!

its a shame welly isnt closer to me because i cant say 100% for sure when im going down to look at the mk4 thats down there, otherwise id definately be up for that

what sort of quotes you been getting for the suspension fitting?

Awesome GTI have an offer on throughout June of £150. But I may miss that due to time scales and when I intend to do all this.

£150 sounds more than reasonable actually.

slip me a ton and ill fit it on your driveway
