First time in the S3, what a weekend!

My car has the following mods:

MTM Map
Milltek Cat Back
Eibach ARB's

So not highly modified in the slightest, but for anyone without an uprated ARB set up, get it done now, the difference is amazing.

Considering the car is running standard shocks and springs, I am ****** impressed with the handling, it feels very flat through the corners.

The main issue I need to address is the heatsoak, the standard SMIC's need replacing with a big ol' FMIC!

Here are some pictures I had taken (anyone going out there looking for some pro shots, contact Frozenspeed, I think the quality speaks for itself)

Mr 430 was taken care of :rockwoot:

Very nice mate - can't wait to get there myself.

Nice photos, how many laps did you go for? Looks like it was a bit damp in the last 2 shots!

I did 8 laps over the 3 days, its 75 Euros for 4 laps (only intended to do 4 at first!)

I stayed in a nice apartment at the Hotel an der Nordschleife (would recommend it) that was 180 euros each for 2 of us.

Fuel I don't honestly know but I used a fair amount of it lol

Other costs like food and drink are reasonable if you look around.

Just make sure your car is in tip top mechanical condition before you go, I got 4 new discs and pads all round before I went.

Nice pics, glad you had fun, something I really want to do, just not in my own day to day car. Which means I need to get a track whore ;)

Looks like fun and the car looks great in the pics.

Don't know if I would risk it in mine, be to scared of stacking it.

looking good man, I enjoyed my dry lap so much when i went. But the car became a bit of a handful in the wet, ended up having a couple spins and an 'encounter' with a barrier, but was a veeeeeeeeeeeeeery lucky escape. Ended up with scraped front bumper, squashed the side mount and a small ding in the rear arch... was a proper talent fail.

Did you hit any armco mate, did you get hit with a bill?

Excellent! Looks like you had a good time.

How much did you pay for the pictures? We had a guy do some for us last year when we went across in the Porsche and they were frankly disappointing. Your look heaps better.
Off again over the late May bank holiday, can't wait now. Then I have to wait until September!

had a brush with an armco, but got away with it. Like I said very very lucky. Prawns fault, he was passenger and put my car out of balance hahahaha! But it was more of a 'talent fail' tbh

Apparently there was a petrol spill around that region and some guy in a rent car destroyed the barrier where I 'brushed' about 5mins later . My tyres were shocking in wet and grip was almost non-existant...

Was my 5th lap I did it, on the last day. Managed to fix the intercooler with some chemical metal we borrowed of some vr6 boys. Heres a pic of me trying to fix the cooler after the incident, surprisingly chirpy. you can see the damage on the bumper.

Definately a lesson learnt for me though, would never go out in the wet, and would never never go with **** tyres

by the way, i hope a potential buyer of the car in the future isnt viewing this thread.

I think the charge for armco barrier is 300euros per section, and theres 3 horizontal sections per 2m of barrier. Also if you drop you sump your looking at a 1000euros charge minimum.

I bought the car off someone who had taken it round the 'ring before hand, so she is used to it lol.

I found the grip in the wet not too bad, just had to take it steady but still managed a quickish lap.

On one of the laps some mega fog set in and I had proper **** visability, that scared me a bit!

E-mail Frozenspeed for a quote if you are thinking about going out regarding the pictures.

Looks excellent, im going this friday even staying in the same hotel and my car has the same map. Lets hope I don't stack it

I managed an all time best of 7m48.488s around the ring .... in a 262bhp Mugen Integra Type-R .... admittedly this was after a few tries .... and .... erm ... it was on Forza Motorsport 2 :(

ESP off? lol

Looks like this trip can be done for £400, pound getting stronger against euro

hahahaha, I love these kind of threads :p

James, I am truly sorry about upsetting the balance of your lovely S3, it must be the only possible reason we crashed, I'm sure it's got NOTHING to do with you pretending to be DK out of every bend ;) Still, was a very interesting experience!

Frozenspeed are awesome, the chap got a few good pics of me a few weeks back when we were out:

I simply love that place, there's nowhere else like it on earth!

Els: what kind of times did you manange, wet and dry?

Very brave going out alone too, I don't think I could trust myself to do a solo lap, it's only the passenger that keeps me from going entirely nuts!

Nice photos, would love to go to the ring and hope to one day.

Els, you don't live near the racecourse do you? I see a T plate Imola S3 parked up on a drive regularly, don't see many S3s really in Sussex at all, let alone Imolas.

ha, might of had something to do with it. it was too easy though. Despite this, Il be going again

Aaron I live in Worthing mate, be interesting to see if the owner is on here though!

Regarding the timing, I tried not to look at my watch as its easy to get carried away chasing away those last seconds.

No ESP for me either, I don't even have the button lol

yup, I tryed a lap with ESP on, it lasted about 30 seconds

30 seconds? That must be a record or something...Shaved 8-9 mins off... lol

I would love to have the ability to turn the TC off but keep the ESP on. It can be a handy tool for when you get into "situations".

I will have to double check but I think they are 26mm front and 24mm rear...

Looking good there guys. Jochen from Frozenspeed lives in the karussell :icon_thumright:
My 1st S3 pic below is from Frozenspeed too. I'm hoping to go back in July this year but got some work to do on the car first.

Was it very busy Els? I remember about 9 years ago before anyone really knew about the Ring the overflow carpark was never ever needed nowadays its rammed!

The car park was heaving, but mainly posers :)

The laps I did were ****** quiet, it was awesome.

Can't wait to go back...
