Ashtray jammed closed

Not quite sure how this has happened, but my ashtray has jammed in the closed postion. i'm always gentle with it. It looks further in on the left hand side.
Is it a case of wedging a slim screwdriver in there and persuading it a bit ?

wouldn't have thought so mate, you have to push the ashtray up to open it when its closed, I would try a little force pushing it up first. I have the opposite problem mine wont always shut

Problem being you're stuck between a rock and hard place there. You NEED to get it open to take it off and investigate really.
