Hi I have an audi a3 and im getting a little bit sick of my drivers side electric window as it seems to go down fine but when it goes up although it looks fine when I hit about 80mph I get a loud whistle coming from the top of the window, it is as if its not shut properly. The only way I have found that I can solve this temporarily is to force the window up myself whilst holding the button up too. This moves the window up slightly and the noise stops but as soon as i put the window up and down again the noise returns.

When I bought the car I noticed some scratch marks on both windows, they are about an inch wide and sit towards the back of both front windows near to where the locks are situated. They stretch vertically for the entire length of the window. Since I have had the car they have progressively got worse, it is asif they are getting scratched by something when they are operated.

Any Help on this would be much appreciated.

Thank You

I have them scratches, and saw another 1.8t the other day which had the same ones! Don't know what causes them though bud.

The window issue could be the start of the runner clips failing.

You could try doing this guide http://www.piglet-net.net/tech/cars/a3-window.html and see if it helps. takes about 2 hours, if it dont help at least you know you'll never have the problem of the window getting stuck halfway up!!
Mine whistled before i did this fix today =D

Ive got the sticky window issue on passengers side, no rush to fix it as the window is closed and as long as it isnt used etc etc

Found the info on here how to fix, i think i just have the broken carrier issue, its just finding the time to do the fix really. Its nots stopping my fun so like i said no rush.
