AND, DON'T FORGET: TOP GEAR (the iconic car show) IS SHOWING IN HIGH DEFINITION ON BBC HD AT 9PM TONIGHT - DON'T MISS IT (I'm shouting)

THANKS!

(I'm shouting louder. And in Times New Roman)

EDIT: Coincidentally my Wave account went live today, been waiting 3 months! /EDIT

I remember when we first got a Dyson. We had a dog at the time and it just picked up thousands of hairs that we never knew were there!

Damn right, got few cats & the hairs etc it picks up that the old fairly decent hoover didnt even touch, cant believe how much crap there is on the floor that we dont see, well worth the money.

I used msn messenger to call a mate in norway from italy yesterday all via voip, couldnt believe how clear & good it was, no delays at all, very impressed.

Google search is good, Bing is also now pretty good, but I fear the future for Google is going to be a similar road as MS have had with antitrust/monopolistic etc

Sweet, cheers Warren, didn't realise it was in HD, can't wait actually, Sunday evening viewing is becoming interesting again!

Glad to the List has moved on in my absence, and thanks to Staz we now have a list for iconic items.

How abut the Rubiks Cube for the Iconic List?

rubiks-cube.jpg

Rubiks cube has been and gone I thought.

No I meant its not an icon as its been and gone as in the disappeared sense

They're still popular in certain circles. Plus the shape is iconic, I saw some chocolates yesterday where each chocolate made up a cube with the colours on the side to make a giant Rubik's cube!

In fact a google images search shows just how iconic the shape is! Fancy dress costumes, furniture, clocks, trainers....

If it's a puzzle you're after what else is up there?

Wasn't there a touch screen version demonstrated on Something For The Weekend a few weeks back?

As far as puzzles go, I can't think of anything more iconic than the Rubiks Cube, i'm trying to think but not much coming to mind.

Monopoly. Not a game I'm overly enamored by, but it still exists, has been evolved to reflect changes in the world, and has iconic shaped pieces.

Rubic cube is a pretty universal piece.

I'm not bored of the thread, I'm just absent. I have 6 weeks of pure hell up until Christmas balancing 2 contracts in parallel.

:whip:

The Eiffel Tower. Now that is iconic in every sense (plus I'm biased as I got engaged to my wife at the top of the tower on the day after New Year 2004)

I can't ****** bear Monopoly, I'd rather be fighting :lmfao:

But I agree it's iconic...even more so than Kerplunk

Are we including monuments now? Ok Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids, the Taj Mahal, the Balti Pride, and Cardiff Castle :lmfao:

I was reading the Evening Standard on the train home a moment ago and they had a pair of Rubiks Cube salt and pepper shakers....surely we must recognise the iconic status of the cube now!!

Warren - sounds like you have the same run up to Xmas as me, i'm up against it now until then and I can't tell you how much i'm looking forward to 2 weeks off at the end of the year....and then 2 weeks later the S3 arrives!!! :)

....and who saw James May's Toy Stories tonight, Scalextric, now I know what to ask Santa for Xmas!

It's a great game, made even better if you've got a bucket load of track and someone to pick up your crashers! Really enjoyed James Mays series.

Anyone remember TCR (Total Control Racing) like Scalextric but better, didnt have slots and you could switch lanes anytime.

Amazed that Scalextric stood the lest of time but TCR fizzled away, in a Betamax v VHS sort of fashion...

Was a cool show though, 2.8miles of track!

Yep! It was the highlight of my 7th Christmas  shame it fizzled out, could never get on with Scalextric, despite having a ****** great doodah to keep it in the groove I couldn't keep the b*****d car on the track for a whole lap

Must admit, Scalextric a bit cack when you think what TCR could do 30 yrs ago.
Money for old rope.

Could anyone explain to someone who's just clicked this thread as a result of the last bump, and really doesn't want to trawl through the whole darned thread - how the hell we got from the subject matter on page 1, to the subject matter on page 9?

Good question.

Rob, have you ever been involved in a conversation that lasted a couple of hours or so and after a while you noticed that the subject had changed over and over again and you have no idea how it get from one subject to the next?

This thread is just like that.

I couldn't possibly answer that question without giving some potentially self-incriminating insight into arguably misspent periods of my youth. But yes. Fair play.

Rob.

Add the humble Mouse to the list...

It makes viewing porn so much easier. :)

Is that the model you have?

I've got a basic Logitech that I've had for about 7 years:
