Im looking in to buying my first Audi
Im looking for an s4 v8 version around 03 04 reg
I have a few questions if any one has time to answer them

Is there anything in particular I need to look out for?

What sort of mileage is the engine good for?

If I cant get the spec I want i.e. sat nav , tv can I just upgrade them?

And help gratefully received thanks ian

I'm not familar with the V8 as I have never had one so I'll let someone who actually has one to comment on that question...however you can retrofit the Sat Nav and TV yourself.

Around £400-450 for the sat nav (RNS-E) and the TV interface is around £250+ depends on what sort you want etc as there is many available.

Just about anything can be retrofitted.... a good Freeview TV and AV line in is a bit more than £250, but the entry level AV line-in attachemetns / analogue TV kit is around that price.

Rock solid build, so long as it's been maintained according to the service schedule nothing wrong with them.

So long as you appreciate fuel consumption will be *****, then all's good.

If you can find one with ARB's, exhaust and a remap and possibly coilies done, then all the better.

you wont need a tv in that car... your passengers will be enjoying the ride too much to care whats on the tele:racer:

But the frequent stops at the petrol station would give them something to do whilst not driving!

:gaehn:

Only just noticed this post.
Try and make sure the car you are looking for isn't on audi long life servicing because the engine doesn't like it due to the chain tensioners.

As said above, you can retrofit pretty much anything you want. I was always going to put the sat nav in mine but thought whats the point, it's better to have a tom tom you can take into something else also i have a 6 disc headunit and thats better for me.

You will also get friendly with your local petrol station cause the fuel tanks are pretty small and the engine is very big!
I have loved my car every second i have owned it, goes well and can actually handle well too for a big car. I took a guy out from my work for a 10 min drive on saturday and he was amazed at how fast and well it handled (he has an astra vxr).
I'm looking to change mine soon for and RS6 so if you are local to me you can come round and have a look

Dunc

I thought about that angle.... but the SatNav is so much cleaner and smarter, plus it links it with the rest of the audio systems (can turn voice commands off and have directions on the DIS, with a manual voice prompt via the steering wheel controls), plus you can trigger voice commands via the steering, etc... and it gives you two SD card slots for at least 6 disc's worth of MP3's (up to 8Gb, so probably more like 40+ CD's worth) and leaves you with the option for a glovebox / boot 6xCD loader still...

As clever as i think the voice control stuff is, i for one only want to talk to my car when i'm saying "come on my bute we've got this one" or "thirsty already? we haven't even done 200 miles!!"
I really like the look of the 6 disc dash changer cause i think the sat nav can look pretty plain and boring, not saying that if i had one as standard i would change it to a changer though.

We have reports of 67miles on a full tank ;)

Agreed: a 6disc changer does look more purposeful than a regular CD player and pushes the aircon lower in the dash (the same as the Audi RNS-E SatNav), so it's a lot better than the empty-dash look you get with the single slot-loader.... however wires across the dash (on long trips) and a TomTom bouncing across the dash as it bleats "exit roundabout now" is the kind of excitement I could do without... the volume levels are all set separately between SatNav, phone and music... and can all be changed on the fly, from the steering wheel and when you prompt it for directions, it will fade out the music, say the directions and then fade the music back in... as with the phone (auto-mutes directions unless you prompt it).

Only downside of the Audi RNs-E versus the NavTeq, etc is postcode searches are TomTom-style partial postcodes and no camrea info.... so you'll need a Neo Lynx instead (I use my old Snooper S4 and R110 (radar) wedged into each corner of the dash and hardwired into the fusebox).
