Guys,
Can anyone recommend some LED Sidelights that done set bulb alarm off?

I am after the white look to go with my HID's and wondered what everyone else had.

Cheers!
Chris

i havent really had the op to play with leds yet, but i had "quad-LED" sidelight bulbs in my corrado, and they were great. ebay sell them, i believe Audi A4 sidelight are 501's?

I got some for my vectra from crazyleds, they fit into my A4 too and don't flag up any warnings. Win Win!

Yes its a nice crisp white light which matches my HIDs perfectly. I got 9 LED ones as it was all that was available at the time, but now they do 15 LED ones which must be awesome!

Are the 15 LEDs error free. Do yours look like Day time running lights

I'm still running the 9 LEDs so I can't confirm the 15s are error free, but I guess they are. They are nowhere as bright as the DRL LEDs, so I can't say they give the look of them really no. I guess if you had enough of them in a strip they might, but better to get a purpose made strip I would think.

If you get errors with the LED side lights you will just have to fit a resistor in line. It's cause they draw less power than the standard bulbs

Easier just to get bulbs that don't require that though eh ;)

In parallel, not in line.

In line would drop the voltage to the LEDs and draw LESS power so it wouldn't get rid of the bulb warning.

In parallel draws the extra power needed to keep the bulb warning system "happy".

Correct

They look brighter than the standard halogen headlights:) See if you can persuade James to put a picture up of his might be whiter as half the lumens.

Kostas your pic is below:

Strangely you seem to have the main beams lit without the dips? Or is that just the sides?!! 'Kin bright if they are!

I will try and take a pic of my sidelights at the weekend. They have a blue tint in the reflector, but thats from the 'xenon' coated 100w main beam bulbs not from the LED's themselves.

 it is just sidelights nothing else I've got standard bulbs in beams. so you agree they are too blueish for 4300k hids :search:

i'll try to make some better pics on friday. anyway in this pic they look a bit brighter then they actually are but not a lot

I'll withhold judgement until you get the chance to put some better pics up - its hard to tell from that one.

Kostas - I have the same side lights as you do . Was just looking at them few minutes ago and they are really bright white. It does look a bit blueish but when you look at the leds closer you see that it is proper white.

Why did you need HID's when you have them as your side lights.....

They seem mega bright.

they are, but far from HIDs

I am really tempted by these sidelights, but my only fear is that they'll look so chavvy when I have non-HID's still. I am considering HID's, but think I may sidestep the LED's for now, until I have decided. They do look so bright though.

My other concern is the quality. I used to have LED sidelights in my 306, and they only lasted a few weeks before they were flickering, and I just took them straight out. Do these seem better quality?

Mine have been in over two years with no problems.}

It would make sense to do both HID's and LED sidelights at the same time, as each time you take the lights out they will need to be readjusted properly.

When you say readjusted, is that something that I can do, or a garage only jobbie? :( I never thought about that. Why is this so? Surely they don't need adjusting everytime you change the bulb?? Sad face!

No they don't need it every time you change a bulb, but in taking the headlight out you aren't guaranteed to get the lights back in 'exactly' the same position. Over the distance your lights will throw the light, 1mm out at the headlight end will have a much larger effect at the end of the beam pattern.

I parked against a wall, and marked the wall where the light hit. You can then put the lights back into roughly the same position, although getting an Mot station to adjust them is the best way.

Ahhh, i see. Thanks for the guide, i'll follow that if/ when I upgrade to HID's and LED's.

they look chavvy even with hids i'm hoping they'll grow on me

Right I have taken some pics, these are the LED's I have:

They look very bright, but thats just the exposure levels in the dark, these are just the sidelights alone, not a hint of blue really. You can see the blue coating to my main beam bulbs which gives them their 'xenon' colour - these are noticeable in daylight where they reflect off the reflector. But at night, just the 6000k colour.

Front view, again still just the sidelights:

This shows how well they match my 6000k HID's:

I have the same and they are excellent!!

It's hard to make a good picture with my phone but like james said, these leds fit my 6000k perfectly. Identical colour.
