Hi,

Hope this is not a stupid question ... What is the object (which appears to be connected to exhaust) that sticks out from the underside of my 2007 A6? Red plasic covering, bolted to undersisde, reduces ground clearance by a good few inches and looks rather vulnerable ... in centre of car, just to rear of engine bay ... ?

Thanks,

- Redkite

Do you have any enemies? Are there any suspicious flashing lights? ;-)

Seriously though, sounds very strange. No idea to be honest...

It would be worth taking a picture of the item and posting that on the forum.
Cheers
Pete

It's a flexible exhaust bushing. It allows the exhaust to be supported from below where space to hang is limited. It will allow the exhaust to move whilst still being supported but without causing stress to the pipe hangers.

Have you had work done to the exhaust recently? It does look as if it's not original - could be wrong though.

Nice in red

The bracket that holds the rubber has been put on upside down. The exhaust should hang from it, not be pushed up by it!!

lol, I have to agree, never seen an exhaust ever with it raised with the flexible holder, its usually hanging as shaker says to allow movement

Ok - I see!

This explains it. Only had the car a short time and just noticed it. I guess I should contact dealer and get them to fit it correctly ...

I did think it was pretty odd!

Thanks.

Nah quickshit could do that for far less or local garage mate.
