Anti-corrosion warranty results - Please post here

Any responses to anyone who emailed richard starkey? I had a claim number but that was it!
Its taking so long! Nearly 3 months since I first went to deals and near two since first email to richard! Swear my rust is getting worse on my roof, though this could just be me over analysing it!
Also noticed a bubble on my passenger door handle! Guessing that's not covered! Feels like my whole cars rotting lol

Nothing as yet about my roof, mine has got worse too, on my sisters A3 they havent even contacted her about the initial claim and her roof if getting worse as we speak!

Your not alone their!! Mine has got considerably worse since i took it for inspection, it amazes me how quickly its spreading in recent month's!

Its bad because the longer we leave it the worse its getting, and what happens if we get a rejection?! That's more money out of our pockets because of the wait! Really hope we start hearing something soon!

mine was refused because they done a depth test of the paint work and said it was not original so they wouldn't touch it

2001 s3 essex refused it when they done a depth test on the paint because they said it wasn't original paint work they wouldn't touch it

Noticed a bit of bubbling coming from under the driver's side door trim - I know this is a common area (I only checked this after reading the thread on here about it).

It hasn't (visibly) broken the paint, do I stand much of a chance?

I'm going to take it to my local dealership at the weekend, will post here how I get on.

Also, both front wheelarches on my A4 are bubbling - driver's side has broken through the paint and looks pretty bad, passenger hasn't yet and is hardly noticeable.

If i'd known about the Audi warranty a year ago i'd have taken it in.
I guess I don't have a leg to stand on with the A4?

Hi everybody,

I know some of you are getting a little impatient with the time for response here. But please, please show a little patience and give Audi /VW UK the benefit of the doubt with this and see what they come back to us with.

This morning i met with Andy Sargent and a colleague at Listers Audi in Solihull, Birmingham. Andy works as paint and body technical and quality manager for Volkswagen Group UK. He and his colleague came over especially from Milton Keynes HQ to meet with me and to re-inspect my vehicle. They arranged this at the dealership to which i originally presented my car for inspection. The dealership were fantastic this morning, and extremely accommodating. This meeting has been delayed somewhat due to my being out of the country, hence some of the delay in this process that everyone is experiencing. But let me assure you all that i'm personally convinced that VW / Audi UK are taking this matter seriously and are making efforts on our behalf to look into the issues we have presented to them.

I had a very constructive conversation with Andy, who was more than willing to listen to our collective issues and took time to look over my vehicle and the particular roof rail corrosion on it. Andy and collegues spent a considerable amount of time with me this morning, and went to considerable effort to re-examine the vehicle and talk about the collective issues we have raised.

I won't go into the minutiae of what we discussed this morning. Andy has told me that he now needs to meet with Richard Starkey and other colleagues at Audi / VW HQ before coming back to me with more information about how this will be taken forward for each individual who has presented claims to Richard via e-mail. Andy told me he would endeavour to do this next week, but for i and us to be patient to give time for that meeting to take place.

Once again, please be patient and polite, as that really is the route that will give us the best chance of a constuctive outcome for all concerned here, and we should reflect the efforts that Richard, Andy and colleagues have taken so far. I really do believe that this is being taken seriously and that efforts are in train to come up with a consistent and justifiable way of looking at each of the individual claims that we have identified with Richard and Audi UK to date.

I will let everyone know more when i have the information myself.

Best wishes,

B (Jonathan.)

Another huge thanks for all your time, i'm sure I speak for everyone here, we are all really grateful for all your liasing on our behalf.
Sorry for the underlined post, it seems it has become impossible to remove the line on my computer!!!!! (the underline button isnt working!) Anyway, it will make the thanks stand out more! :)

Thanks for the update Jonathan - fantastic work there.

FYI I emailed Richard Starkey on Friday 16/10/09 and got an out of office reply which might explain the lack of responses lately.
"I am out of the office until Monday 26th October. If you require an urgent response please contact 01908 601058 for assistance."

Thanks for all your help with this Jonathan, good of you to take this on and sort everything out.
Had a email today from audi apologising for the delay and reassuring me that i would have something in the way of a result soon.

As some of you will know from reading this whole thread I had my roof repaired by an independant garage only for the rust to come back 4 months later. To me the spray job looks particularly shoddy as I can see the paint is thin on the lip of the roof rail and it has split in places.

I spoke to the bodyshop that did the work and they have told me that they can book me in again if I want but believe that they got all the corrosion out the first time. They think the problem now must be rot from deeper under the rear quarter that i'll be fighting forever. To me this sounds like a massive excuse not to do the work again, and to be honest they couldn't pay me to do the work again!

My question is what are my options now? Do I go to another bodyshop and get them to have a crack? Are there any special treatments that can stop the rot?

Just had an email from Audi UK. They have reviewed my case and have agreed to do the work free of charge!!! :yahoo:

I would like to take this opportunity to give a BIG THANKYOU!!!!! to Bantam for starting this whole thing and providing his support in getting a satisfactory result. :applaus::applaus::applaus::applaus:

Owe you one!! :beerchug:

Good to hear that they've approved it. fingers crossed for mine now, its been 7 weeks since my reinspection, be nice to hear today tho!!!:whistle2:

I too have just had an email stating that Audi are going to approve my claim and carry out the work on a goodwill basis.

Will just have to wait on the local Audi/VW bodyshop contacting me to arrange for the work to be carried out.

Big thanks to Bantam again for taking the time and effort to chase this up for everyone....

Just had a e-mail from Audi uk they have had the opportunity to review my claim and have taken the decision to approve it on a goodwill basis, they will make arrangements for my local Audi Centre to contact to me to arrange for repairs to be carried out at my convenience.
Big big THANK YOUto Bantam for the time and effort he and everyone else put in to get they reolved..CHEERS.:salute::yahoo:

Had same response from Audi, cheers Bantam.

YES YES YES its been approved, very very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just waiting to hear from Listers audi to book her in.

Big thanks to AUDI-SPORT for your help:applaus::thumbsup:

Just had East Kent Audi on phone seconds after last post and they have said only the roof on my car will be done and not tail-gate.

East kent now telling me goodwill gesture for repair of tailgate from Audi has been taken away and surprise surprise they want £666 which was more than original quote!!!!!!

Mine has also been approved as a good will gesture! thanks Jonathan for everything, so pleased with the result! hoping i will hear from my local audi place soon!

i had the same e-mail today sayin they will carry out the repairs under a goodwill basis thanks for everyones time and effort really appreciate it

i took mine in for a slight appearence of the bubbling and they brought out a depth gauge.....checked it all and told/showed me that the paint near that area was thicker than Audi say it should be which means its had paint, trouble is the area where it is too thick is approx 2x3inch's!! i know enough to know that a blow in job would take a bigger space than that, my thoughts are they have checked the paint depth on the edge of the bend making it seem thicker..... i have since checked the whole bodywork with a mates depth gauge which shows original paint throughout....

problem now is i only have 3 main dealers within 20 miles of me (all Gilders).... what is my next step other than travelling to another garage far away

Really glad to hear that people are getting some positive outcomes with regards to this, and hoping that those waiting to hear get a similar response (me included :)).

A big thanks to those at VW UK/Audi Customer Service who have facilitated this so far.

Fingers crossed for everyone else.

Cheers,

Jonathan.

Hi Guys, Brilliant thread by the way.

Im gong to be phoning Bristl Audi tommorrow in relation to my Claim.

However Ive had my car 6 months, noticed the rust a while ago, but its only really started bugging me recently, and I only just seen this thread.

Ive seen that people get rejected for not reporting the rust when it appears.?

How can I get around that one? - Im sure I didnt own the car when it started :/

Thanks, Ryan

Same result for me, thanks so so much, im so chuffed now, just need to get them to sort my sister A3 too!!!! Huge thanks:salute:

Huge thank for everything you have done, read my other thread for my update.

Thanks

Mike

Email rec'd yesterday from Audi UK approving my claim on a goodwill basis. Bearing in mind it was refused twice before i'd almost given up hope!!

Thanks bantam1.

ps. mine is an A6 but exactly the same problem with roof gutter!

I recieved a phone call from the local Audi dealers today regarding my claim.

They apparently have to re-submit the claim with the photos of my roof rails to Audi MK who will then approve the repairs.

Hopefully i should be getting a call from the body shop in the next few days to arrange for my car to go in and get the work carried out.

Firstly, just like to thank bantam1 for the help, my car is very close now to going through with the work, i now need some reccomendations off other members on which dealer is the best for body work, i'm am located in the north west of england, i am willing to travel within a 30mile radius of manchester to get the best spray job, i've heard i few stories of people getting their cars back with swirl marks. Thanks

I took my car to colchester audi and they took some reading and said there and then they wont do it. Does any body know what the std paint readings should be?

Its not the dealership who say yes or no to the warranty work. They may have given their opinion butits the warranty department in Germany that has the final decision. At the end of the day the dealerships are there to make money so it would be in their interest to put the claim forward.:blackrs4:

Suggest you send an email to Head of Customer Service, Richard Starskey?, mentioning you are a member of Audi-sport.net. Send in a similar format to your posting (delete what you may think is not necessary) plus your contact details. Richard's email address can be found in the earlier posts from Bantam in this thread

Add some of the quotes about reasonable, fair etc that can be found in Bantam's posts following correspondence and meetings (can be found in 2 or 3 of the thread) and be polite.

It worked for me and Audi have been excellent in their response and follow-up

Hi guys (and girls), I found your forum upon searching for this very problem and since have began discussion with Audi in pursuit of the damage to be upheld under the discussed 12 year corrosion warranty.

After discussing the issue with my local audi dealer they asked me to bring the car (1999 Audi A3 20vt with 90,000 miles) in for inspection. The inspector essentially tried to tell me the damage was 'too far gone', i.e should have been brought in sooner and subsequently he doesn't think the claim will be succesful.

Here's a few pictures anyway:

That's some of the worst roof corrosion I've seen yet. Mate just follow the warranty claim thread on audi sport and be polite in your email to audi uk. They have been very helpful in my case an I dropped off my s3 this morning for full repairs carried out under goodwill. Audi uk have been nothing but helpful :)

I know it's brutal isn't it - when i bought the car and initially viewed it, it was chucking it down with rain so i never noticed.
Sorry for seeming dumb, but where is this thread?
Do i need to write to Audi direct, or do i just leave it with my local dealer??
:uhm:
