OBD II Functions on your iphone

Yeah, but this software tells you error codes in the ECU. I reckon if it took off then a lot more could be done to it (developers) such as clearing ECU logs, writing to ECU but then there would be audi knocking on doors, or atleast companys like Rosstech etc. And I reckon the Hardware of the WIFI dongle would come down too.... in time. At the moment the cheapest I can see is £204.

Group buy per chance?

You can actually clear ECU error codes with the liquid S3 along with reset the throttle body position, count misfires on each cylinder, timing pull and obviously a lot more, there has also just been a software update which allows you to have a multi gauge (oil, coolant, intake & exhaust temp) to.

leshkin your in the it trade arnt you, any idea where we could find a good cheap obd wifi connector?

Yeah, I'm in IT, but not car-related (for now :) )

I don't know where to get the cheapest ones, but would suggest getting one of the supported devices as listed on the Rev developer website:

http://www.plxkiwi.com

http://www.obd-2.de
http://www.obdkey.com

Personally, I'd go for the pixkiwi device as it looks like it's the smallest and will not stick out too much when in use. Although it's not the cheapest if you take shipping and import duty into consideration (unless you can persuade them to supply it to you as a 'sample'), so it's your call.

S£, I appreciate the liquid S3 features and have seen it in use and know that it's a great product. For me though, the biggest selling point of the iPhone app is the portability and compatibility with other car makes. As much as I love my S3, time will come to change to something else and being able to just unplug the kit and plug it into the new car is priceless. Add to that the option of being able to plug it into your mate's car for basic diagnostics or comprison on a track is a great thing.

Saing that, liquid S3 can be easily housed in a small plastic case and mounted on the dash/windscreen, which would make it much more portable. I think I just had a new product idea for Race Diagnostics to consider :sly:

Ive said the same thing, if the liquid s3 had portable housing or even a housing for the a pillar id have one

Here are what they both do..

Rev does -:
  • Vehicle Speed Not on the Liquid S3
  • RPM Not on the Liquid S3
  • Intake Manifold Pressure Not on the Liquid S3
  • Barometric Pressure Not on the Liquid S3
Liquid S3 does -: ............

See here for the new speed/rpm display http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7NOnCJ0CmY (its been modded a bit since i made the video), and of course it does show manifold pressure, that is your boost pressure and it automatically subtracts the barometric pressure from the boost before displaying the results.

Has anyone tried the iphine app yet, I am willing to bet it wont show boost pressure.

I've used the liquid S3 and think it's really good, out of interest though what's the max figures the device will go to for boost, when I used it I was getting 1.55 bar max straight away all the time, it didn't seem to deviate...or is that right ?

The max boost that the map sensor can read is 1.56 bar, if you boost to a higher level,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the computer say no.

just to drag an old post from the grave...

has anyone got the rev software ?

im still looking at this (just seems slicker than the liquid S3) and i love my iphone...

does anyone know if the rev app will show oil temp ?

Ta

Yep pretty sure it does, there also bringing out an updated version of the software, have a look on their website.

surely if this rev app connects via wifi then there will be some sort of delay in readings i would of thought a direct wire to the connector would be more accurate thatn a fly-by wire device? theres another advantage of the liquid s3. P.S surely they must make a windows based software version for other wifi ready phones such as the nokia n95 etc?

not entirely correct tho... barometric pressure, manifold pressure and boost pressure are all available in Liqui... (technically not manifold pressure as the map sensor is'nt in the right location to measure vacuum, but thats not a liqui thing, but a car thing)

I've only just seen this thread. I have VAGCOM but I also have and iPhone 3gS and find that a lot more portable than a laptop!

I may have to add the wireless module to my xmas list.

Is anybody currently using this on an ipod touch or iphone?
Any problems?
I had a breaf look on itunes and found 3 or 4 items i think,
Which have people tried??

Ill be trying it at crimbo, going for the REv software and kiwi obd 2 transmitter.

well im going to have either an iphone or touch by then. so i will hopefully be playing too,
Has anybody found a good way to mount an iphone/touch in an s3??

Westle - ebay, by the time you ship one other it cost a fortune etc, so go on english ebay £145 plus a couple quid delivery.

Paul - just get a ipod phone holder that stick's to the windscreen the same as say a tomtom.

Is the transmitter $150 dollars?
have you got one or awaiting one?

I really want one but as I already have a Ross0Tech cable I cant justify the money. Plus the other half keeps harping on at me about buying a house next year and not spending so much on my car :blahblah1:

No its more than if you buy it from the usa, think its about $230 plus delivery but dont quote me, there £145 on ebay other here i know that for sure.

Yeah but westle your not going to drive round with your laptop stuck on the windscreen :)

Just get some no nails, sorted :icon_thumright:

It's caned with stone chips due to 80,000 motorway miles from the previous owner. I didn't try to nail a laptop to it or nothing like that :whistle2:

:lmfao: Come on, you did didnt you.
