Guys,

I need your help.

MRC Tuning in Banbury was broken in to on Sunday night and my S3 has been nicked. Reg Y874KAN.

Please keep an eye out for it and report it to Police if you see it. Pictures are in my Garage on this forum. 2001 Silver S3, 19" Mania wheels. Supersprint exhaust, Backdraft kit, Porsche big brakes.

As you can imagine it's my worst nightmare. On face value my car is only worth £3k - £4k but I've spent over £20k on it...and now it's gone. And likely not to get anything like that back from insurance. I'm gutted and in shock.

Further details will be released by MRC in due course.

Just keep an eye out guys...I know it's a long shot, but I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Gav

feel for you mate and after all the recent trobles you have had also

I shall scour Coventry tonight for you buddy as I'm working nights....in case its made a trip up the M40. I shall also speak to my mates on Motorway and Warks and get them to keep eyeball out for it too.

Scumbags.

Really sorry to hear this and hope you can come to an agreement regarding insurance valuations
are you plod tom?

Thanks for the kind words and support guys. Really appreciated.

No exactly how you feel, had my old 2L Corsa stolen a couple of years ago. 10K + in receipts but worth a fraction of that.

Hope you get it back mate, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Sorry to hear this bad news mate, when it comes to your car it's most peoples nightmare, really gutted for ya...

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Gavin, but is this the responsibility of yourself or MRC when this happens?

Hope you get a decent payout whatever happens.

I'm moving this thread to general automotive chat also for wider coverage ok.

Thanks JoJo. Should be covered by MRC but unlikely to get back anything like what was spent on the mods. Just have to wait and see...

Anything that you can do to help get wider coverage is appreciated. Cheers.
Gav

Yep, I just hope someone rounds this car up undamaged.

Was it fitted with any sort of tracking device?. I would strongly advise one for anyone with a high value car...lots of cars get recovered due to them.

T

Hopefully you'll get it back in one piece Gavin
am not sure about having a tracker as who wants a car which has been ragged by scum but in this case its a bit different in shortfall in the insurance

I have to say I'm not sure I'd want my car back after.

BUT...99% of time when tackered cars go they're taken and parked up for a few days....if they're still there after a few days the scrotes know its not got a tracker so will use it as they please etc. If its got tracker its picked up before they go back for it.

We get them going off quite often in our cars that have tracker hardwear fitted so more often than not they're located parked up damage free :)

May I ask was yours the only one there, did they steal anything else?

They stole 2 other cars, a Misano red B5 Rs4 and an S2.
I believe the S2 has been recovered with minor cosmetic damage.
They also trashed Doug's computer, in the office.

Been covered quite extensively in 246 and SRS since yesterday...

CNUTS...

Sorry to hear about this - I hope the car is recovered in one piece but can you not claim from MRC Tuning's insurance as your car was in their possesion and you may be able to get the most of the money back that you put in...

I do hope it comes to the best ending possible given the circumstances..

Gutted. Hopefully you can recover some of the costs if you have receipts.

i was told by the tuner i use today that a customers car was stolen from his place a few years ago and the specific car value isnt specifed or book value used just a general sum for the contents of the garage or vehicle's inside like 1 million worth of cover or whatever so getting an agreed valuation and recouping some costs with mrc might not be that difficult,

regarding the comments about trackers...i thought they or one had been disabled and found at the scene???

Sorry to here this Gav, hope you get the car back ok....

I don't know what it is about Silver S3's. But a mate of mine had his Silver S3 stolen from his own house, while he was out down the pub.

He too had spent a small fortune on it. Including a Backdraft Big turbo kit.

Sympathies Gavin. But hopefully MRC should be responsible, so it should not affect your insurance. If they're being decent about it, then they should be replacing it with a like for like.

that's the best news I've heard yet. fingers crossed.

thanks again for the comments fellas, it does make me feel a tad better knowing like-minded individuals understand my loss.

Gav.

PS I keep looking at the empty space in my car park I wondering where it is now...I wish I knew

I'm out on the prowl again tonight, lots of people had the heads up last night to stop any Silver S3's that moved ;)

Cheers Tom. Your comment made me and the missus smile (she works for the scum bag camera unit). lol

I'm off to the Lake District on Friday morning, Tom. Can you ask them NOT to stop me please...:eyebrows:

Maybe I won't be leaving my car overnight at APS from now on!

Cheers,

I can vouch for that Gavin and this car turned up at our workshop with bits ripped off it as we were the only ones that could replace them. We had already been warned that the car had been stolen from our customer previously. Its a small world.
Fingers crossed for you Gavin and hope it turns out the best for you it can-whatever that ends up being.
Best Wishes
Mark and the team BDM

Am I reading this correct? Is Gavin's car at your place? or some other Backdrafted car you are talking about?

I can see how this can get confusing, lol, took 10 looks myself to get it right, but I think, not 100% sure, but sounds like, he means Gavin bought it as a stolen recovered & then had them fix it up for him as the new owner, now its been stolen from him, thats terribly bad luck

No no no....(holds breath)Backdraft can vouch for the silver S3 that Glen Jai is on about as they had to replace the bits took off of it.

Gonna read some of these posts again, cause that just went straight over the top, lol

Thanks for the post Mark but I'm a little confused.

I'm not sure what you mean by you can vouch for me turning up at your workshop with my audi with bits ripped off? I havn't visited you guys since Sept 07 and nothing has ever been ripped off my car. And also not sure what you mean about being warned that the car had been stolen 'from our customer previously'. I think you must have me and my car confused with another customer. (GlenJai).

Just for the record my car was bought from Audi second hand and has never been a stolen/recovered.

Thanks,
Gavin Cooper

Gavin, reading that I think Mark is making reference to the silver S3 mentioned here:

I don't know what it is about Silver S3's. But a mate of mine had his Silver S3 stolen from his own house, while he was out down the pub.

He too had spent a small fortune on it. Including a Backdraft Big turbo kit.

He's referring to that as a stolen recovered with bits hanging off it not yours. Hopefully that is correct and will clear up your confusion :icon_thumright:
