hey everyone, probably sounds like a stupid question but i've came across a few pics of cars like this and always liked it. So thought i'd ask the pro's!

Do what? Or am I missing something obvious?

well what you do is buy an s3 set of coilys, mtm alloys, lcr splitter, brembo brakes, re-spray the front grill and get some skirts. throw aload of money at it and thats how you do it.(btw when saying throw aload of money at it, its not in a bad way we just all know how much it would cost to do that :)) it is a dam tasty s3.

Send danclarke a PM and ask him....its his car :)

Shame it's no an S3

was that meant to be not jojo i was going by the badge on the grill lol, he got the bumper sitting so well you couldn't tell

LMAO!!!!!!! SORRY!! me n my late night posts haha.

nah I've seen a few cars n there headlights seem darker than others and to mine. just wondered if its a new headlight involvedd or doin sumthin to them. mines just seem really reflective weather they look quite dark... ( i am an idiot btw :p )

Yup, it was meant to be a not lol, my bad.

I can tell it's not an S3 just by looking at the door lowers. But I also know this is an A3 running a remapped S3 engine! Yes, he has the front bumper sitting nicely with the front wings, it's a nicely done car to be fair.

cor blimey reading through this thread and I'm thinking Frankenstein....what is this sh*t. The only thing I see and am envious are the chrome mirrors.

Do you really think its that bad???

I thought it was an S3, obviously not then...

Its an A3. the way i've seen people do it is to put the light units in a warm oven (not hot!) until the glue around the glass/front bit loosens... Then split them apart and pain the inside...Then back in the oven to melt the glue again and press it back together.

Dark headlights = Laminx or equivalent

Are u taking the p**s??

No, or a heat gun to melt the sealant/glue used, I did to repair some headlights once, just needs the smallest amount of heat on it to not melt the plastics.

I think you may have some thing in your eyes mate lol

nothing in my eyes. Ok, maybe I should have said it looks simply OK. It's just with all this talk about an A3 with bits on it to look like an S3 and it's soon going to be re-mapped , my mind went onto Frankenstein bolt on upgrade job.
The backround setting doesn't exactly help bring the car to the forefront - in fact it's a bit dull , just like the weather in the pic. A better close-up picture showing the car and a bit of rubber/tyre tread (slight angle) would work miracles for it. Oh , not forgetting the gleaming chrome on the mirrors. Loving the thought already !
Oh , I do need to also mention the privvy glass - envious again. It doesn't seem too dark - appears just right , bit then again that might look good becuase it's cloudy and may look sh*t in sunlight ?

thegoal007 you're not allowed a negative opinion on S3's here

It may not be your cup of tea, but he has put alot of effort, time and money into that car, so have a little respect mate.

LOL....

It's not to somes taste i'll admit, not to mine either. I don't like the idea of badging something that clearly is not what it's meant to be.

It has an S3 engine yes. But not the shell, or components. Pointless getting into what specifics it does share, the idea is it's not an S3 but is badged as one!

I'd be more proud of the fact that leaving the A3 1.8T badges on it and suprising people at the lights! :)

"There was a group of lads once, driving around in what was badged as an M3 (e36) convertible, i happened to have the pleasure of owning a real one in estoril blue, only in a coupe!

They had music blaring and the roof down, subs booming the lot. They looked over as i pulled up to the lights, said "alright mate!", to which i replied "yea great thanks". They asked if mine was real! To which i said nothing and just gave it 4k revs to see happy smiles, and said yours isnt though is it!

Priceless!

I never ever understood why people badge something up as something else. Who are they kidding. An R8 recently had BMW badges on it's hood, bootlid and engine covers. I mean WTF....

Maybe i'm alone in thinking this but if you want an S3 "a real one", work hard, 2 jobs if need be, and ****** buy one! They aren't expensive anymore in 8L shape.

OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! back to topic! can anyone give me a run down of how to do this thing with the lights then please :)

Ok, so I can't make out exactly whats been dne but if its the black surround inside the actual light you can buy them like this.

Saves the hassle of seperating the casing, painting it and then sticking it back together... sound very Blue Peter-ish to me.

:)

I'm afraid i agree with Mr G and thegoal007, i don't like it! I too would have more respect for a 1.8T badged car. Or, remove those side skirts! Each to their own though i guess. But surely, by the time all the mods had been done, engine swap, wings etc etc, might as well just bought an S3!

The other day i saw a Type R badge on the back of a Pug! Doh!

yeah the black at the back of the headlight, (clearly not standard) I've seen them on ebay such (the ones u can buy) but they look too clean and new for the car if you know what I mean... Like the idiots with older bmw's that put the clear lexus headlights on there cars... Trumpets man!

So how do you do it?

p.s if u all wanna bitch about badges on cars like children then START A THREAD!!!!!! :motz:

hi havnt been on here a while so thought id reply. basically i painted the chrome inner part of the headlight black to darken the front abit (good mod imo) how to.... i took the headlights out the car and took the little metal clips off the edge that hold the front plastic to the back plasic, then heatred around the edge so the glue comes soft and you can prize it apart, then theren are 2 screws which do the headlight adjusters you need to wind that all the way out so that the insides remove from back, take all the chrome bits apart sand them till dull then spray whatever colour you want, when all done put it all back together and thats that! you will need to have you headlights set up at a garage after to get them level tho. i did mine on a wall and got then level. any questions just ask and ill try and reply as quick as i can

as for the people slating my car ITS A BADGE!!!! it was on the front bumper so i left it on, hence why i havnt got the back badge!

Firstly, congrats on a spankingly sweet ride(whatever badge is or isn't on it) :respekt:

Secondly, I'm gutted I can't do the same mod to my headlights(cuz mine aren't projector/angeleyes type), guess I'll have to buy mine :sign_unfair:

Thirdly, Are you mad?!?! Posting pictures of an induction kit(shielded or not) fitted to ANY audi engine!! You'll lose all your bhp, they are a waste of money, bad idea, noisy blah blah blah :undwech:

See my thread for all the reasons not to fit one http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=78735

Although mine is still on, I haven't found a downside yet.

Me too, apologies. Its a very tidy car. I guess the only thing that doesn't look right is the side skirts. Perhaps if you removed the black strip? One or the other, not both if you see what i mean?

Like the R8 next to you...Did you get a go?

I must admit, I think some people have been a bit harsh...I'm not a fan of cars that have been dressed up to be some thing there not, but I do think he's done a good job and it has got some go under the bonnet, apart from the rear arches there really isn't much to give it away...it's the whale tails and dodgy looking bumpers that I can't stand, at least it's kept looking oem ( bar the side skirts )

it's not something I'd ever do but hats of for having a go, it would be a very boring dull life if we were all the same...
