having noticed a clunk noise when going round corners (cv joint)some times and have noticed i get it when i put my foot down in a staright line /
any ideas cud this be drive shaft aswell or just cv joint ?
also how do i check timing on vag com 704.1

Jack the car up and give the area a good shake - check the drop links for wear and tear

Give everything a good tightening incase anything is loose - have you changed suspension at all??

Probably just the CV, the driveshafts are not know for causing issues

If it's repetitive/cyclic 'clack-clack-clack', it may be a CV joint, but if it's a one-time "knock" then it's probably more likely to be the something like the upper strut mount...

Certainly, that's fairly common on FWD VW platforms, -My A3 is too young to do it just yet, but every other FWD VW I've ever owned has done it as the miles stack up.

Hi tdi-man, getting the same click click click symptoms on mine with some lock on and already suspect nearside outer CV joint due to noise and also noticed one of the cv boot clips is missing when I did an oil change last night, where did you source the joint and how much was it if you don't mind me asking?

cheers,

Andrew.
