Thats fairly random!

Sometimes it's crap... Sometimes...... Not too bad!

Depends what you want from it I suppose!
 
I find Facebook OK, but I don't like the fact that it puts out too much info about me into the public domain - if you are not careful !!!
 
I don't understand what people see in telling the whole world " i'm having a cup of coffee".
 
Everyone's a celebrity now, so of course we want to know. Get a real life people!
 
I'm a Facebook fan, I've actually been talking to old friends on there that I haven't seen in 15+ years, much better than friends re-united anyways. Not too keen on all the application features and all that, but you can switch those things off, aswell as user feeds from other members.

This one seems to come up a lot. It's about how you use the tool, not what the tool can do!

I have friends dotted all over the world, non of which I get to speak to as often as I like\should. I fiend FB is a good way to catch up, and check out there latest holiday pics\car mods etc etc

It's not everyones cup of tea, but I use it. I guessing you will hate twitter as well then?

Thing is, social networking sites are not something thats going to stop growing overnight. Eventually even our fridges will be online... Don't try to fight it haha
 
Like Jojo I have found it fantastic for getting in contact with people I haven't seen in over 16 years.
 
Facebook is pretty lame... I go on it alot more now i aint working. Use to only go on to accept and message people back. And i hate all the application features

same here and also people I know all over the world.
it is a good but have noticed certain flaws...I accepted my cousin as a friend and all she did was have sarcastic comments about my status and sod all good to say so I gave her the boot..you can pick your friends on facebook and boot the rellys ;)
 
I deleted my profile, but yeah its great for catching up with people from all around the world, I only miss it when Im very very bored and have checked all my email and read every thread on AS.net :)
 
I think it will fade away in time, like everything that become's an overnight success. As mentioned it's great for keeping in touch with overseas mates/old friends etc - but equally if you 'really' wanted to keep in touch with them without facebook then you would already be doing so.

I used to play a couple of the car game applications, but now I just look on there maybe two or three times a week and thats it.
 
I think it's great. I have got in contact with mates from years ago and it didn't take too long to find them.

A mate was recently injured in Afghan and his misus changed his status to tell us how he was getting on. He got so many messages of support too. He then left this status:

is now at home. Thank you to everyone that has helped me and my family in the past few weeks and for all the messages from everyone, it's been very humbling!

I agree about the waste of time status reports though. One girl I know just seems to spend each day getting the kids ready for school. She may not survive the next cull.
 
I cant be bothered with it, I havent signed up to it and refuse to do so as well, I really cant be doing with people updating every second, it becomes obsessive (bit like this place then hey!! ;))
 
Facebook is a good place to keep intouch. It informal and some status' can be very amusing. Especially if a blokes account has been hacked by his wife, and he was doing the dirty on her hehe say no more!!

Oh and im sad...I like farmville!! what can I say im a student lol
 
Personally I see it as no different to a car forum, but covers a wider spectrum of people....however I do agree that some apps are just pointless and sometimes status updates are annoying, but you can pick and choose so that isn't really an issue.

It will not fade away, but will grow I'm sure.
 
I keep in contact with a mate that has moved out to OZ so I can call him a convict c*** every time i speak to him which is nice, but am sick and tired of hearing which Sex and the City character someone is or which Star Wars character they are or if they've just gone for a poo.

The options are there to switch the feeds from applications, once switched off, you will NEVER see another feed from those applications again from anyone! If it's your friend that's annoying you, can can switch the feeds from their accounts off too - simples.

I've not used Twitter and don't really have any urges to start. Call me old fasioned but I still don't think you can beat picking the phone up or, better still, putting the kettle on! A mate of mine always goes on FB when he comes over - last time I had a bet with myself that he'd be on it within 10 mins and i now owe myself a tenner.

I tried Twitter when it was all over the news and Stephen Fry was raving about it. I really like him and I thought it was really cool that I could get to know him by following him. But I got bored quickly, no one I know uses it, the search thing was crap (my sister registered but she couldn't find me and vice versa) and the RSS feed failed. I just stopped using it and haven't gone back.
 
OT but i agree, Stephen Fry is fascinating, such a fountain of knowledge. I thought he did well as the new team captain in the Buzzcocks.

I use facebook. As others have said, it's great to keep in touch with people I haven't seen in 10-15years. I ignore all the invitations that I get sent to use new apps etc. Waste of time and space IMO. I don't think it's a phase. If it will die down, it'll be a long time yet! As for twitter, I've never used it and don't plan to either. Not for me. Facebook does what I need it to do and all my friends are on it so don't see the need to sign up to something else.

Excellent! I'm not a huge BookFace fan but I have used it a lot more since emigrating. I'm going to switch off all feeds and state clearly on my page:

"Your inane chatter has driven me to the brink of insanity. Nobody gives a s**t if you are going to bed, cutting your toenails, suicidal because everybody hates you, or just got up with a 'wiked hangova init brv wat u doin l8a'. I am removing all feeds for your drivel, because next time I read about you being 'stuk in traffic fukd off dun wana go 2 wrk' I might just try and stab a bus queue full of people to death with the corner of my laptop...and it will be your fault"

I've not seen him in years and he's the other side of the world and this is all our conversations ever consist of. So maybe Facebook does have it's uses.
 
As stated by LEZ 51 It's giving out stupid amount's of ...I'm don't want to go to work ....i don't like the rain ... I'm sad today... I think it's a pooo tobe straight up with you all i'm a member of Fb but don't use it any more. I feel it's a time waster .
Bring back good old pick the phone up and speak and then make the time to visit people with out the ...It's raining i can't drive my nice car ect ,ect
 
I started gfoing on facebook ages ago to speak to friends and family etc....But now im in the same boat as Stacie and just go on to play Farmville! :icon_thumright: lol Sad arent i.

I totally get the pick up the phone and make a call, or get out there and meet up stance. But Facebook is free and there right in front of you, and everyone has internet access don't they?

It's more the convenience of it all being available and free that a lot oe people use it.
 
I like it mainly as I have a friend I on there I use to work with, and she has a photo of her self bending over in a bikini, and it rocks my boat every time I see it....which is once a day......
