hey just got my car, and want2 upgrade the lights. which is the cheapest hid i can get please? been looking on ebay but not sure what style the lights are on a audi like a h1 h2 h3 etc etc i think i want the 8000k bulbs though any help appriciated thanx

What year is your car and what model is it?.
Are you aware that if you dont have self levelling lights they are illegal?. Plenty of people run them though...just avoid anything 'too blue' so to not draw attention to yourself and you'll be alright though

i know this has been covered a million time but correct me if im wrong....there isnt many people that can enforce this law is there? for instance the police are powerless, MOT stations are too.....
mines a3 1.8t 5v can u help me with which kit i will need? i want them more white than blue as i had them b4 and was 100% inprovement on stock lights.
The higher the k the bluer the light, i had 6000k on my previous car, a friend of mine had 8000k on his 7series bmw and they were a bit too blue
Don't get 8000k, they look terrible and aren't even all that bright. They produce a lot of glare and will probably dazzle other road users.
If you've got a facelift A3 with projectors you can probably get away with HID's but if you've got the old style lights with the reflector I'd strongly advise against it.

Closest colour to OEM is 4300K (it also produces more light output than the 6000k / 8000k etc).
I'm not 100% sure but the bulb type IIRC is H7 (maybe someone can confirm this?)
Look out for kits with slimline ballasts as they will be easier fit / hide in our cramped engine bays!

Unless you have projector style lights like is fitted to the later 2001 to 2003 modles do NOT fit HIDs to them as the light will be scattered all over the shop and you will draw attention from unwanted sources.
For the cheapest Ebay would be where i would go, but until the age of your car is known, we cannot recomend the bulb type. Facelifts are H1 iirc

Not necessarily. They don't have the 'power' to say you can't fit them but they can say that they are potentially too bright or dazzling people and can ask for them to be tested, etc.
The law states that new cars must have Auto-leveling and washers, which you prob won't get on non-xenon std cars.
If you do fit them, make sure you mark out your current lights on say a wall or garage door with some tape, a note the pattern made, say from around 10-15ft away.
then when you fit the new lights ensure they point at the same marks and don't scatter light all over the place otherwise unwanted attention will follow.
Personally, I've yet to see decent set of aftermarlet HIDs, 99% of the ones I've seen on the cars round my way well over ****** in terms of brightness or blueness. Look at some OEM Xenon lights and you'll see its a small round, fine point of light with a clear hint of blue and not some huge mass of blue light blasting out the headlights.
If done right I'm sure it will look good and you'll be fine.... so don't do it on the cheap. Cheap = crap!
You can fail an MOT on it and the Police can act on it, as can VOSA etc. Vehicle Lighting Regulation Act
You'd have to have them in non projector lights or be unlucky to get pulled up on it though.
