Have been up and down the country this weekend.

Filled her up to the brim on Saturday morning, the needle didnt move until id hit 280 miles.

After a long weekends drive, i got home, trip computer was saying i had 40miles left, and i had covered 760miles over the weekend.

800miles to a tank! I LOVE my car :D

Wasnt driving like a complete granny, avg speed for the entire journey was 67mph.

Never thought i would see the day i got 800miles to a tank

Thought i would share it :p

Was this actually in an A3 (55 litre tank)?

If it was :hi:

That's rubbish, my Passat had an 80 litre tank and managed 300 miles...

At first I read and thought it was a typo error. I thought he must mean 280 from a tank i.e S3.

Then I realised 800 from a diesel and then I was thinking thats the most I get from a tank and your needle didn't even move. OMFG!!!!

I do believe the 2.0T engine is a very unefficient engine in terms of fuel cosumption. As I get around 25mpg on avg, where as my dad gets around 19-20 in his RS4. Not a huge difference really. I would say my driving style is in the middle somewhere also.

Just thoight id comment.

yeah i was just joking but on a serious note the 2.0 tfsi is effin terrible on fuel awesome engine though might get it converted to lpg  i wonder if you can because the government will put 2 with you to do the conversion so ive heard

what engine you got in yours then??

2.0TDI (140PS)

yeah i noticed when i had a 2.0T for a coutesy car for a day, it DRANK fuel

barely got 100miles to half a tank:sob:

used to have an a4 1.9 tdi estate averaged 70 mph to my dads in brighton 600 miles round trip and needle just below quarter of a tank when i got home

We're averaging 8.9l/100km (31.7mpg) in our GTI. Different car, of course, but the same engine as the A3 2.0 TFSI.

Around town I do tend to drive in a more fuel efficient manner than I used to, but I'll still give it a bit of stick every now and then.

Is it one of the newer common rail models or older? Didn't realise the 2.0 TDI could be that good on economy...

My 2.0 TDI certainly isn't that good on the fuel. Most I get is about 520 out of a tank with an average of about 48-49mpg.

Good going to get nearly 800 miles!

800 miles works out at 66mpg!

Best I got was 590 miles - think I could have pushed it to 600 if I'd had a spare can of diesel in the boot when it ran dry!

I managed 601 miles out of my old mapped 1.9tdi vw bora (50litre tank) and so far best is around 520-540 in the 2.0tdi a3 and that's a 55 litre tank. Gonna load up the economy map for the trip to Wales as hope to do the whole return journey and week's driving on the one tank, we will see!

I drove to Australia for 99p!:)

On 99p well done mate! How long it take you to get there?! HA :)

Well one on that don! 800 miles my car only does half of that!!! :banghead: I'd probably have to drive under 60mph to get extra miles out of my tank. Bet you was well chuffed when you got home and saw that! Long drive mind!

i drove to africa on a quid of fuel ....

Lol have fun in africa blazin! Quid on fuel aswell plus you got a 2.0tfsi sure you never stopped to put another two quid in? ha:)

I disagree. I think it's a very efficient engine. I'm currently doing a weekly journey along A and B roads and am getting 400 miles from a tank. If you boot it on motorways it's a different story of course.

My mate has a Focus ST and struggles to get 250 from a tank when he drives conservatively.

I get 3-400 miles from a tank - I do too much overtaking on my journey to work to get really good efficiency. If I just sat behind the muppets at 40 mph I'd probably get much better mileage. :p

i just went to poland with my car (my poor suspension:( ) i filled tank just before trip. driven 597 miles until refuel lamp came up. some speeding(70-120) sometimes doing 60:) due to road works. tdi rocks:)

Wow! Not expecting that but if I can get about 500 miles per tank I will be happy.

First time poster here so be gentle people. :)

Will take delivery of a 55 plate 06 registered A3 2.0tdi Sport on tuesday afternoon. Only 26k on the clock and is nice and tidy. Test drive was lovely.

Fuel wise that is going to be a big plus for me as I am coming from a MG ZS 180 2.5 V6. I probably get about 25 MPG if driving like miss daisy. The insurance on the A3 is half the price and car tax too. Big savings all round. :)

Seems like a good bunch of people here and look forward to becoming a member of this community.

How about this boys?

Went to the coast a few weeks back, drove there, returned back, all together done about 750miles on two tanks...of LPG...

I don't know about prices of LPG up there in GB, but my cost was about 40 pounds for the whole trip...

Car is a new 8P3 ibis 1.6...

****** hell!

I was getting 525 to a tank, on my 150 mile a day commute...leaving late, silly speeds all the way there. I adjusted, started leaving early, doing 75 all the way, and was getting around 600-625 miles a tank, including the 15 miles or so of fun twisty roads, and my weekend town driving. Have been on for an indicated 750-800 miles before, but the inevitable twisty roads and town driving always gets in the way.

Don - How many miles on your engine? And is it remapped?

Knocking about I regularly get 29mpg, and on 100mile runs this goes to 39mpg. You boys need to exercise a little right foot control!!!
Dave

The best I got from mine is 520miles!
On average, I get 450miles before the refuel light comes on!
