Hello all

First message on here...

I'm thinking of fitting a rear spoiler to my 1.8T as in anything above a light shower the rear window becomes totally covered in muck in a very short time.
Any help, hints or recommendations gratefully received.
I used to have 205 gti (sorry, it was a long time ago!) and it had a spoiler at top of hatch and kept the window clear all day.

Thanks in advance.

In my experience, you'll make the rear window even worse with a high level rear spoiler.

I can see the vorticies spiraling upwards and dropping grime on the rear window...similar shaped cars with no rear lip always seem to remain cleaner.

I think it's just down to the shape of the car.

No need to apologise for having a 205GTI...there have been few cars of it's type made that get close to the 205 as a drivers car. Lift-off oversteer city! Woo-hoo!

I have the same model as you and was also thinking of getting a spoiler and dont apologise for the pug i had a 206 with a huge WRC spoiler on the back and tbh it made the back windscreen worse!

Still im gonna get one asap cus it needs to be sportier looking /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/1luvu.gif

I have an S3 spoiler on my A3, I did notice on the motorway in the wet I used the rear wiper less but as soon as you slow down it gets covered as usual.

easy enough to fit and looks the part.

-sorry to hijack-

Hi Neil,

I notice your "mods so far list" : "mods I would like to do" ratio has improved since I first saw your signature -over on another Audi forum when I first started browsing them some time ago. You are transforming your motor at a serious rate! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've just taken seriously-late delivery of some bodystyling parts and (by happy accident) there was a slight error with the order.
I was despatched some rather more expensive side-skirts in place of the roof-spoiler (and less importantly, mesh) I'd ordered (in the beginning I'd cancelled the side-skirts from the order because I bought wheels and ran low on funds!) - and given the extreme nature of the delay I find myself in a bit of a moral dilemna about alerting the retailer to this - not only by way of 'compensation', but I'm also seriously doubtful about the fact I'd get a prompt exchange (or maybe even at-all)...

So I find myself considering hanging on to the side-skirts as a replacement/upgrade to the ordered bits that are missing, and the options for getting a roof-spoiler elsewhere - I had thought of fitting an OEM S3 spoiler but I wasn't sure what kind of a job it is to fit; and I'd be really grateful if you could shed any light on that one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

yep been bussy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif did the spoiler about a month ago (porsche brakes are the latest toys /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

I picked up a 2nd had one from a srappy for £60 it comes with 4 studs that u need to cut off.

lightly scotchbrite the top of the boot lid then bond, we used a strong window bond to attach it (takes about 3-4 hours to dry and over night to really harden.

it makes such a difference to the line of the rear.

ahh there is now a CAN bus G2 version for later cars.

The Enhanced DIS G2 will make use of CAN bus, and allow all Audi including the 2002+ to enjoy the feature of Standard enhanced DIS. it will include the 1.2 features plus the following features:

G2 can make use of the entire Trip computer display. A full-graphic solution as shown, it allow multiple sensor to be monitor at the same time.

Air conditional system information can be display on the last line of the Trip Computer display.

An optional Bluetooth accessory is in the product schedule to allow communication with other bluetooth device for display and communication purpose.
