Counterfit BBS warning.....

thanks for the heads up, how did you find out they were not genuine?! they do certainly look it, apart from the price so far of a tenner! lol

The detailing on the wheel is very different to the genuine BBS.
1. The Genuine CH does not have this fitting badge
2. The markings on the rear of the wheel are incorrect
3. The center bore and spigot ring fittment is different
4. The finish on the wheel is poor, casting flaws etc

Interesting, I am not questioning your knowledge, but am curious how you can tell the centre bore and spigot ring fitment is different as this isn't shown in the photo's and not mentioned in the description? Also the finish looks quite good in the photos.

These are not far from me so would almost be tempted to go look at them.

i must say, i did notice that the finish doesn't seem as smooth as it does on genuine bbs. but i trust ur knowledge.

bit off subject, but what is the difference between the old bbs ch and the new 2009 bbs ch-r

It does look like bad lighting as the photos further down the AD look much less Champagne(y) coloured. I was interested to see what the difference in Rear markings was

Some pics of the rear of the wheel.

Looks like a good copy though! But I can see the differences.
Thanks for the heads up! :)

Maybe you should send him a message telling him that there not genuine and to reduce the price dramaticly so i can put a bid in :)

There are loads of fake BBS on Ebay at the moment but at least the sellers do make a point of saying they are "replica" This guy is trying it on with all his BBS logos all over his ad to make it look genuine.

Theres a wheel shop by me selling 18 inch CH replicas for £380 a set of four. I went down and had a look and to be honest, they were excellent for replicas, they had the "germany" and BBS logos cast into the rim. To most people on the street it would be impossible to tell them apart. I will be getting some! ;) He is doing them for £575 with 225/40/18 tyres.

contacted the seller who responded with:

"hi, they are not genuine and im not saying that they are genuine. each wheel weighs 12.8 kg. thank you"

To most people on the street it would be impossible to tell them apart.

Until they all end up 50p shaped after a few months...because they sure as hell won't be as strong as BBS!

I hit a potholen at speed in my Mk3 GTI with 17" BBS RXs on and broke the front strut, but the wheel was less than 0.5mm out of round.

I know people who have dropped into a pothole in the town and bent cheap replicas...

Buyer beware!
As long as you know what you are buying...

That used to be the case in the early days but there are very few poor ones about now. Theres too much competition. I've had 4 or 5 sets of reps and had no issues with any of them being low quality. I'd sooner save the £800 and not cry so much when the Mrs scrapes them down a kerb! :)

Each to their own...

I have 6 sets of BBS wheels that vary from 1996 to 1999 vintage...and not one of them is buckled or bent.

I've yet to see that from a cheap copy...sorry, replica!

look what i just sent him lol:lmfao:

funny that the picture is showing genuine 19 inch bbs and your selling 18 inch snides that look flat lol ....good look

there pretty nice .....although Lms would have to be silver on my car but ch id spray black or prob titanium....Nice though ...

Yes, I responded to the seller along the lines of if you are saying they are replicas why are you not stating this in the auction and using all the bbs branding to deceive potential buyers to which i've had no response.

Seems to me it's blatant mis-advertising? to 99% of people inc me I would assume they are genuine - especially with all the branding, but yet the guy has a 100% feedback record? So does this mean the people that have bought, think what they have are genuine or not I wonder? Don't Ebay investigate these kind of things?

Just for the record they do look pretty smart no?
