Weekend at the Ring

only cure for a filthy ex Pete - brillo pad and swarfega!!

wonder what sort of costings your looking at with accomodation and fuel etc

would be fun an AS roadtrip and then a recovery truck on the way back :)

Not a bad idea.. dont know if anyone else saw this in a magazine a few months back..

guy had a white S3 crashed it on the ring.. had a list of how much the crash cost him its ridiculous how much they charge for the armco damage!

Well it cost me the following:

Travel Petrol = £120
Euro Tunnel = £160
Track Petrol = £40 (you'll do nearly a quarter of a tank in 2 laps if you're tanking it!)
Accomodation = £105
Spending money on top of this lot too.

The best thing to do it load your car up with mates and split the petrol and Euro tunnel costs.

I spent £400 over the whole weekend.

You think that was expensive! I wonder what the bill for one of these is???

I met the guy at castle combe on the 25th of April and he's now rebuilt it and it is a very very fast car! Sounds like hes got more money then sence...(Owns a Range Roverv sport aswell). lol

hodge whats he done to it...ie what turbo etc??

Its a GT28 at least but i think its a GT30, It was keeping up with a 650BHP Evo! Down the straights it sounded like a jet plane.....
I only spoke to him for 2 minites before he went on track. And i asked him if he was the owner when then nurburgring accident happend. He said that it was and that crash cost him around £8000 EXCLUDING his S3.

But he said that hes going to put it up for sale soonish (So keep youre eyes peeled). He went out on the track with his miss's in the passenger seat so i hope he found the best thing to get rid of brown staines! lol Nice guy but a bit of a snobby character....

****** hell..... cant see how it cost £8k.... yeah the recovery would be a small fortune but 8k...id guess he'd have to pay for damage to the track maybe....

wonder who built that for him.....

They charge you for the cost of closing the track....lost revenue.....which is alot. That and the cost of ther armco barrier which is reasonable and also recovery.

They charge you for anything possible....The cost of closing the track, any damage to the track/barriers etc, ambalance's, recovery, cleaning up.....Its easy to make an 8k bill if you add it up.

I usually camp. Its only about 30 euros for the weekend. Makes the whole thing alot cheaper. Just means you carry more stuff with you! This year my mate is coming along in his Freelander so we'll pile that full of kit so our cars are lighter!

this is the quote from the magazine who did the photoshoot

cost of crash
recovery off track 160
armco repair 1200
recovery home 1000
£2,360

he might of not paid it and its interest;)

I use center parcs. Cheap but you get your own villa, supermarket, restaurants and a pool. Plus its only about 15 miles from the ring.

Interesting......Maybe it cost him 8k including the S3? even tho he told me it wasnt including it?
Here is a pic of it before he tracked it at Combe....

And for the person who asked...... im guessing its put together by Speed Culture.

I read the build on his S3 in Redline before the ill-fated ring visit and he sourced a few bits very cheap.
speed culture...street fashion for cars

I see he got some money back from the crash then.. talk about sponsorship.

I prefered the look before the crash.

Was talking to a few friends earlier, i think a trip down to the ring is definatly on the cards this summer.

they charge you for loss of earnings for every 15 minutes the track is closed due to recovery, clean up and repair

Like i said when im old enough im there!
I need to slap myself! (Ive been looking at a 2003 Noggy blue S4...4.2ltr V8 ) Not that id ever get insured but when im 21 i can it would be an animal!

you do NOT have to be 21 to drive in the eu, as soon as youve past your test and as long as your insurance allows you hop straight on the ferry
