As above, a friend is upgrading his brakes on his evo, wondering if its the same fitment? will I need other carriers, adapters... anybody tried this?

Thanks for that, but still doesnt realy answer the question whether they'd fit or not?
Thought about the porsche ones, although they look good, ****** expensive just for the look.

No they don't, or we would all be buying Evo/Scooby Brembo's to fit on our S3's, they mount differently to the Brembo GT/LCR items I'm afraid.

The difference is that one is what they call 'Lug mounting' and the other is 'Radial mounting' I just can't remember which way round they are!

Edit : I think the VAG range is Radially mounted and EVO's are lug mounted.

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for LCR ones but they go very quickly when they do appear. I'm guessing there isn't too much need for the LCR guys to upgrade from the Brembos unless they are going for a mental track car.

I have heard that the LCR Brembos suffer from wear in pins and can move about/clunk a bit on high mileage cars. A lot of these units find their way onto the 'Bay from dealers scrap bins

I think hardlife is an understatement, I would put fresh paint on these before fitteng them, such is the condition.
And you can see they have the caliper carriers fitted in this pic.

Just to make things a little more cloudy.......
Evo Calipers will fit an S3 or A3 with the following modifications.
a) You need an adaptor bracket which bolts directly to the caliper and is stepped to fit the original audi caliper mount. I am in the process of trying to get some made but lack of funds rather prevents me from this.
b) You need to use R32 discs 334mm or if you don't want to go that big, 323mm Leon Cupra R discs. The advantage of using the R32 discs are with the width. (IIRC The Evo runs 320mm x 32mm discs)

......and before anyone says anything daft, by the time you've spent out on brackets and discs you might just aswell go and buy the brembo gt kit. It just so happens that I had a set of Evo brembo calipers in my garage! :)

Im a tool maker by trade so if you have a drawing of the brackets you need let me know, I know a few people who would love to fit these so i will help you on your way

Thanks for all your responses guys.. its a shame cos there are alot more EVO brembos than there are cupras, or just a GT kit, and quite abit cheaper too..

Paul if you found away to provide a fitting kit for the EVO calipers to the s3, im certain you'd make a hell a packet from just the boys on here, nevermind the rest of the VAG forums, as the fitting kit would bolt straight on to the Golfs, all the people who do the conversions and use the S3/TT hubs when doing BAM conversions etc..

As they say, the possibilites are endless, just the time and the know how.. if you priced them up reasonably so they're affordable under the GT kit, but yet you still make a profit on each kit you sell.. might be worth doing you know.

Just to add that using a home made bracket for this type of application is at your own risk. I'm pretty sure Brembo have put in some good R&D into their products to be fitted commercially to a car like a LCR, so quality is assured...

I'm all for saving a few bob here and there, but with Brakes, I'd pay a bit more just to make sure I can stop without it all falling apart, but that's just me.

I totally agree jojo, but im not talking about making the brackets out of newspaper and glue.. simular materials that the stock items are made from, just holes in different places.. different fitments etc. Doesnt involve that much risk if the right person is putting it together im sure?

JOJO.
I would never make something sub standard especialy when it comes to brakes,
Ive worked for a few companys that make automotive components such as brakes and clutch developement.

Cutting corners on brakes... its a no brainer,

I wasn't having a dig at you mate, just expressing a personal opinion.

Have you seen the brembo/ seat brackets? i dont actualy think they are sooper dooper.
Ive got them on my car now and tbh the ones i made up to fit boxster S callipers to my golf... where a better peice of kit to be honest as i didnt care about the cost or profit margin.

Badger Bill has his brembo caliper brackets made. They are very substantial from what I have seen.

I have been looking into getting brembos for mine but really put off by the overall price and ongoing consumable costs. The Kit Bill does uses VAG supplied SEAT calipers, his own brackets/braided hoses and Leon Cupra 323mm discs (albeit EBC Ultimax) which seems a sensible setup as the calipers should be matched and the pads/discs easy and relatively cheap to replace.

Problem I have seen with some kits (brembo or otherwise) is cost and availability of consumables. If a suitable alternative source of brembo caliper that works could be found then seems like a good idea... EVO calipers appear to be easier to get hold of on ebay so if a bracket could be made then theres a potential market there I guess.

Be interesting to see if anyone does have a go at this though...

<tuffty/>

The kits that bill does are good to be fair,
However the brackets i bought from him to fit brembos to my mk3 vr6 ended up costing me a fair bit more than the brembo items.
It pays to shop around if buying off the shelf set up

Paul, I will try and get you a drawing but I'm not too clever at that kind of thing. If I gave you a model would that be useful?

I made a template from MDF which allowed me to get the correct spacing for the caliper to sit squarely over the disc. Basically, it's a shallow 'c' shape with a step machined into it which also acts as a locator for the original carrier, bolted up using the original Brembo bolts and the original Audi mounting bolts for the adaptor. The adaptors would be different sizes depnding on whether R32 or Seat discs are used. One issue with the R32 discs is that the pads only cover the outer 2/3 of the disc, and although this isn't a major problem it does look a little odd.

For anyone that thinks that the adaptors may be 'a little dodgy', as all the braking force is in a radial direction there is very little difference to mounting the oringinal caliper.

You get perfect size discs vag 5x112 320mm and also in 300mm on eBay and the evo discs are the same
Size so would it just be a case of getting adapter brackets after that

I know

u can get discs the same
Diameter 320mm 5x112 front and 300mm 5x112 rear so I'm guessing surely if u can get a bracket made they would fit

Well that came from nowhere last post was 9 years
