I dug out my santa pod time slips and used the following website to calculate my 0-60 time.

http://www.wallaceracing.com/0-60_equation.php

My 1/4 miles time was 14.44secs abd terminal speed was 97.02mph and it calculated it to be 5.52secs.

Yes this calculation assumes linear acceleration which isn't true but its not too far off i don't think.

I would guess that judging by the error in the calculation it should still be sub 6 seconds 0-60 for the A3.

pretty good and have you just got a revo or any other mods what bhp you running ...??

:cough cough: Blufin ;)

I've run a few numbers through it, and it is a tad optimistic IMHO :(

Remapped S3 - 4.6s
JonnyC's GTi Ed30 - 3.2s

i'd add 0.5 second onto the calculated time me thinks!

You have Vagcom dont you?
A mate of mine showed me a rather crude method to measure 0-60 times on an industrial estate (at night). He was at the wheel, and I was sat with his laptop connected to the vagcom software. It showed peak power and few other bits (that I cant remember). In his edition 30 DSG he achieved 6.4sec IIRC (Revo stage 1 map - I think)

Wouldn't a stopwatch be easier?

Proper Datron timing gear is the only accurate method.

All other methods have too many variables and can be vital half or whole seconds out either way.

What about dynolicious for the iphone/ipod? My son has it and it is supposed to be pretty accurate judging by some ebay videos.

Did 3 runs in my stg 1 mapped A3 2.0 tfsi Quattro and got 5.9 / 6.1 and 6.2 not all in the same place, and not all were great starts but gave me a rough idea.

How does that work? I presume its an application that is added onto the iphone.

Its just some ******** app, i tried it and it didnt work.
I think it relies on GPS.
Im still calling ******** though, even though I dont know how it works, cos it didnt work ;)

I doesn't use GPS, it uses the accelerometers built in to the iphone, which is in theory quite an accurate way to measure acceleration, breaking and Gforces.

It does however, rely on correctly being calibrated by the user, and that leaves a lot of room for errors!

Clever idea though for a bit of fun, I used to have it on my iphone and tried it out in the Porker a few times, it's not too bad in terms of accuracy, but not a replacement for the proper gear.

That website is asking for 1/8th mile times not 1/4 mile. Hence the optimistic figures. ;)

Yea but if he is putting in his 1/4 mile figures for 1/8 mile calcs.....then he probably going twice as fast as it says..... :)

so thats 0-60 in 2.6 sec.... Must be a 3.2 s-Line like mine !

If he puts his terminal speed from a 1/4 into the 1/8th calc then the 0-60 would have to be impressive to get a terminal speed of nearly 100mph covering only 1/8th of a mile!

i think its a bit optomistic my old astra gsi which i used as a track slag 1/4 mile was 13.4 and the 0 to 60 that said was 3.2 in a fwd car very doubtful but who knows
