They really pi** me off, Im always careful where I park my car, especially since I've had it repsprayed and detailed, and If I do have to park next to someone I am always very careful and use my hand to stop my door banging on anyone else's car.

I parked my car in a reasonable size space yesterday next to a nice new white A4, looked clean and had red leather looked like the owner really looked after it, when parking next to it, I made the effort to leave them plenty of room to get in.

I came back to my car and the b*sta*ds have swung there door open so hard it has put a huge dent in my rear quarter and took the paint to the primer, I mean who ever did this must have done this with some force and knew exactly what they were doing with no regard for my car at all. there are even a couple of not so deep scratches next to the dent like they scraped something past it to get it in to their car.

Thats 3 in the last month, I really look after my car, what should I do park a mile away from any other car so this dosent happen?? Should I be that obsesive ? People should be more respectful.

Rant Over :motz:

park a mile away thats what I do

Anyone who does that is a total c**t. And thats all there is to it. If I have to park in a busy supermarket car park I park where there are lots of empty spaces, even if its miles away from the entrance. Or I look where there are 2 spaces next to each other and park in the middle of them. And I haven't used a multi-storey car park in years. I have total sympathy for you mate.

Yea i Fu*king hate that. If they left a note on how to contact them then fair enough but when they do it and drive off it's Bulls*it. I bought a brand new 57 plate motobike and a few a week's after someone managed to knock it over by opening the back door on a transit. They just sped off and it was all on camera so i was lucky when it came to claming off there insurenace. Same with my car since ive owned it (Early this year) i notice people have opened doors and dented it, Scraped the rear bumper by walking round the back of it etc....
What have started to do is park next to something like a wall/post were one can park on that side, and park up close to the wall on your drivers side and squeese out. That way the person that will park on the other side will have enough room to almost open there door fully. Or just park were there's CCTV so if you come back and find a nasty dent like you did there's possibility that you could claim off there insurenace i guess?

mate i feel really bad for you.
Some c**t scrapped past front off my car an did all around my number plate area. Some people just dont have no respect

i always park as far away from the shop as possible to avoid people like that, you find that most people who do park ferther away have more respect also as there in the same boat, i park in two spaces right in the middle at supermarkets to and only go there when its not busy.
as for multi story car parks i spend ages driving around to find an end space so i can park right to one side so as to give the other people loads of room to avoid my car, if there's a pillar i end up having to clamber across to get out the passenger side as i park that far over.
my girlfeind hates it especially when its raining but never mind she hasnt paid what i have to buy and maintain my car

ive started taking up two spaces, as i noticed a little ding on the passenger side door. makes me sick that people dont look after other peoples propperty! if been know to park my car and if i get out and noticed the car next to me has a dint or some sort of damage i'll move to be on the safe side.

Lol, my girlfriend hates me for loving my car....But if she'd payed the same amount of money out she would understand. lol

i know its no excuse but do think it might the children swinging the door open with no thought

Folks...please keep the swearing off the forum.
You all agreed to the rules...if you didn't read them, that's not my problem...any more and the warnings will become bans.

Thanks...

Glen.

yes that may be the case.

But I have children, and I always make sure I open the childrens doors for them for that exact reason.

They are my responsibility, and if they damage some ones car, it is my responsibility. :)

Unfortunately, it obvious a lot of people dont think like this.

In London there is not usually the luxury of finding space for a safe spot, at our business park I park across two spaces, as the spaces are so small you cant really use only one anyway.

A mate of mine was at the shops, and this kid [16 or so] got out his dads car, and dinged the side of his, he said something, and both son and father looked at him blankly. He said he was not after any insurance details, but how about a "sorry mate" and they just looked at bewildered .......... mind you, he is a 120Kg northern rugby [league ....... but still] player.

Personally I think it is indicative of the culture we are now a part of where there is a complete lack of respect for anything, let alone some one else car. If you really think about it, it is a downward spiral, no one gets involved, so the behaviour gets worse.

I would park across two spaces, but that's a bit inconciderate and maybe even wind people upto the point they might end up damaging the car because they couldn't get a space.

And I agree about the kids thing, even if I had kids i would open their door carefully for them so I didn't damage anyone else's pride and joy. Its just the way they did it, even if they would have touched the door on my car as they got in it wouldnt have damage it half as much, it was a full on swing of the door still something stopped it, which unfortunately was my rear quarter..

Sorry for swearing by the way, I'm mega annoyed to say the least - mods we need a censored smiley ;)

can sympathise greatly here mate. i have a real phobia when it comes to parking next to other cars. it shouldnt have to be like tha but other peoples lack of respect make it a nessecity

THATS A WOMAN WITH SHOPPING THEY ALWAYS DO IT ...PAIN IN THE BUTTS THEY ARE... REALLY THICK THERE MORE WORRIED ABOUT THERE HAIR OR THERE NEW SHOES THAN THERE 20 GRAND A4 WEIRD

yes I tend to park away from other cars
lot of duplicates today?

came back to my dads car the other day and the car next to him had his door open resting on my dads car. My dad asked him why and he just got the reply "its got a bump strip on it" My dad went mad and othered to shut the door for him in a non polite way. The guy got stroppy but as I tuned up he soon backed down lol

Seen this happen loads of time and I always make a point of saying to the person responsible. For the record I have never had an apology or any form of remorse. Lets face it guys if someone is so ignorant that they don't care about bashing someone else's car then they definitely aint gonna apologise. Buy a kids seat and park in the mother and baby slots LOL.....cheaper than a respray. BTW parking across 2 slots just annoys people and they will either mess with your car or if there is enough space park so close you will have to get in the passenger seat. Parking away from people doesn't work either as the kn*bs will purposely park next to you. When I picked up the S3 I stopped in the services, plenty of parking spaces so I parked where there wasn't car around me for at least 10 spaces in every direction. Grabbed a quick coffee only to find a white transit parked so close to my car I couldn't get in the drivers side. Luckily he hadn't tried to get out as he would of 100% bashed the car. I just stood there looking at him, he wound down the window and said what's the problem mate. No problem, I'll just get through the passenger side and climb across seeing you have been such a **** and parked so close. His reply was 'didn't realise if you had a new car you owned the car park'.......this is what we are up against!!!

My missus and the kids always moan as I park miles from anywhere. Really cheeses me off that people just don't seem to care about anybody elses stuff. My kids actually have no idea of value (despite trying to teach them it) My eldest got a Nintendo DS for christmas and manage to damage the screen, she just turned around and said she would just have a new DS for her birthday!!!!

Seems you can't teach anyone the value of anything these days... disposable society we live in...

Now that is being sexist and not really true. Don't you do shopping then Mr B.

It's like me saying all blokes with green tail lights are Martians!!

It aint just women that do it.

Fat people are also culprits..........:shutup2:

Seriously though, i dont think there is a 'type' of person that does it.

Thats the problem, even when you park miles away away from any cars the numpties go & park next to you anyway, I mean for gods sake are these people just plain thick or what.

But what a good idea, gonna go buy a baby seat now & no its not for me, lol

I wish I could have my missus here with me when typing this because it justifies exactly what I do with my S3.

If we go anywhere and have to park, I will guarantee you that I try to find the spaces furthest away from the shops etc just so as to try and get people to stay away from me lol.

We parked at Tesco the other night and I parked in the far corner where there were no other cars due to it being too far from the shop to walk basically, and shes like 'why the hell have you parked so far away again?'

Well love, it's because careless idiots are happy to dent my lovely S3 and think nothing of it, that's why!!!

So I sympatise fully with you buddy and feel sorry that you have been hit 3 times!

We do go shopping, but were very careful not to bash someones car lol , even if there is a 20 year old heap with door dings all down the side I'm still carefull.

I live in Dubai, the car parks here are not like tesco's car parks , there are far more cars here than anywhere I have lived in the world crammed into such a small place, if you find a spot your lucky, otherwise its a 10 - 20 mins walk in 40+ degrees heat, which, if you have a suit on its soaked in a minute, soon it will be 50+ as summer approches, your probably gonna say "you jammy ******" but its unbearable.

I think 4x4's contribute to 99% of door dings here every other car is a 4x4 and most of them with rich housewifes behind the wheel who when opening door couldn't give a sh** about anyones car, I mean these are the sort of people that get there car cleaned in the car parks, shopping centres or in there home garage by a kid with a dirty old cloth, washing up liquid and a old cloth full of grit. There everywhere you go here wanting to clean your car, I cringe when I see them do it.

Never before in my life have I seen so many cars with swirls like here and door dings galore.!!

sorry to here this mate. Do what I do. I take two spaces and i dont care what anybody thinks as i got 5 dings because of inconsiderate ppl...

I really hope you shall not be buying another DS? Surely if you have to work for something, you appreciate it more. Perhaps giving money as a present, so you have to save for a while before buying what you want will help you understand value? I mean, is that not how most of us bought our cars?

It's like me saying all blokes with green tail lights are Martians!!

Only a martian would have green tail lights!!!!! :)

We all have opinions but you have some wierd views about Women.. far more than Hair and Shoes!!! Help me girls.

I will help, although I am no girl. 10blazin - My girl is not all about hers [ridiculously expensive] shoes and hair, she is also in to cooking food [and pretty damn good as well] keeping the house tidy, occasionally being a little forgetful [in this cute adorable way that only a woman can get away with] ....... :whistle2:

But on a more serious note, there are more [rimes with anchors] out there than there are stupid PEOPLE with trolleys, and not all those people are female.

I also look at the car I am parking next to, avoid mini vans, mini cabs and anything BIG like a 4x4, anything that would be driven by a [rimes with rock]

due to i know these things happen (has happened to me) i always either:

~ park miles away from the front door
~ take up two spaces
~ or if it's packed and have to park in a single space between two cars, take photos on your phone of the each side cars' number plate :busted_cop:

I take up two spaces now. I don't care if some old lady in her fiesta wanted to get in the space next to me. I'm parking it there and walking away. Decided to do this after I noticed some fool had slightly dinged my car. Its not noticeable (well it is to me but I'm eagle eyed when it comes to my S31!) but it is there all the same. After I found it I found myself parking it in car parks and if anyone was parking next to me when I was walking away. I would stop and look at how close they parking to my baby and how they get out of my car. I even used to go back to the thing if I felt they had come too close. I would give them the evil eye and they would usually park better or perform some gymnastic move to get out of the car without hitting my car.

Now I take up 2 spaces and park far away. I also look at the car I'm parked next to and am perfectly willing to let that space go if the car car next to me looks like its been driven by Colonel Stinkmeaner from Boondocks (Look it up if u don't know).

Some people just don't understand the rule of not messing with a man vehicle!!!

Surprised it's not been mentioned but it doesn't help the small parking spaces which supermarkets and multi-stories insist on so they can cram in as many cars as possible.

Cars have got bigger as well - if you go to US they've got bigger cars but at least they have the parking spaces to match!
