Well after being away from S3's for a few years I have just sold my 335d and ordered a new S3. Cant wait.

Nice one - what did you spec?
Just wondering what they estimate as the build time, as I'm hoping to order one in the next week or two?
I ordered one on 31st March and was told mid June but haven't got an exact date yet so would guess end of June/Beg of July.
I ordered a 2.0TDI Sportback on 19th March and mine is being built this week and should be at the dealers by the end of April or early May.
ordered my SB S3 on 23rd March, build will be week 19 (w/c 4th May) should be hear end of May (hope)

Ive run the 335d for 2.5 years now and fancy a change. Awesome car especially as its remapped but I fancy a quick hatch again for a while and loved my 2 previous S3's and R32. The spec is:

Meteor Grey is lovely... look at the link in DeckedS3's signature for his. Love the way the pearl changes the colour depending on the light...
lava grey does the same the pearl is amazing in the light i wouldnt get silver its so old fashioned where as phantom black lava grey meteor grey them colours will never go out of date heres some of mine in the sun
ive had phantom black im sure it was pearl to but it was a bit of a ****** to keep clean like after 2 days id notice dirt but i still love the colour...so my next car was a sportback because i just had a baba, and pearl lava which i love,, it looks really dark on dull days almost black,, then on a bright day or the sun is out it glows.... i really like lava its not as hard as black or white to keep clean,, got to be pearl though i think it is anyhow..... but you can see the dirt on most cars as long as you wash and wax once a week its fine

The is a small picture in the latest Price and Spec Brochure on the Audi UK website. A dealer will probably have a much better and bigger sample.
I bet they seriously effect resale, unless its an easy job to switch them out, they are horrid
Meteor Gyey is more like this most of the time. The blue off the sky can sometimes be seen (never seen green could be my eyes) The car never looks black and dirt doesn't show that bad. HTH

You can also get Piano Black. I asked the dealer about the inserts when I was up investigating. He said he's never seen a wood one - as no one orders it!! Might be great for resale as its so rare!!!!
each to their own, I did read somewhere that an RS4 with the wood trim wouldn't shift at all, and in the end Audi removed it and put another trim on to help with the sale.

You guys have made me think and I have looked at internal photos on the net. I think you are right and am opting back to the standard silver trim!!!
I might go for Ice Silver too as I am stil indecided about Lava and Meteor. My last 2 S3's were silver as was the R32 and they looked good as you could see the grilles etc.

I'm in the same boat as you - I'm going to order an S3 in the next few weeks and can't make up my mind about colours either. Silver with a black grill, and a set of black BBS CH's I think is the way forward for me!
Not convinced by that Meteor Grey either to be honest. Looks nice in some photos and makes the chrome grill and mirrors stand out... but in some lights it has a bluey tint to it which I don't like so much!
The meteor grey is abit like my old Dolphin Grey S3, the grey is the a good choice if you like a dark coloured car and don't want the pains of black cars... JohnS3 S3 looks spot on, not sure which Silver it is tho...
You should consider the piano black inserts... a little classier than the silver inserts IMHO and I don't care what enyone says, they don't scratch easily.... not a mark on mine after 2 years!
