For those that use the Dartford bridge from time to time or all the time, please note that there are now average speed cameras on the bridge. (in the Gantries).

Each lane has a camera pointing at it, first as you start on the bridge, last just before the toll booths, at end of bridge.

Remember it's a 50 here, not 70 (as not part of M25)

Hopefully I got away with it on Friday 3rd April then

DARTFORD: Speed cameras to be installed at crossing

11:48am Tuesday 24th March 2009
MOTORISTS face overnight closures at Dartford Crossing while speed cameras are installed.
The work started yesterday (March 23) and will last for two months.
During this time there will be intermittent overnight lane closures on the QEII Bridge (A282 Southbound) as well as full road closures between tonight (March 24) and March 30.
When the bridge is closed traffic will be diverted through the tunnels.
The work is being carried out to improve road safety and smooth traffic flows on the crossing.
It comes as the Highways Agency and the police take steps to improve road safety and smooth traffic flows by ensuring compliance with the 50mph speed limit through the introduction of cameras.
Graham Threader from the Highways Agency, said: "This work is absolutely necessary to improve road safety and traffic flows.
“We are determined to reduce the number of collisions and make drivers journeys safer and more reliable.
"All work will be carried out overnight and where full closures are necessary traffic from both directions will use the tunnels."

thats crap, cos i use the bridge several times a week, and not once seen a collision.

just another place for the gov to sting drivers and print more money

Surely the easiest way to smooth traffic flow is to scrap the toll. The bridge paid for itself several years ago so they are just blatant profiteering.

Yeah I used to use that route daily & like feck is it for road safety, used it for years & not once seen an accident on the bridge not once, borken down car etc but not accident, so another money spinner cloaked with the road safety banner, its bad enough they charge for the tunnel still, they only built the bridge because the company running tunnel wanted to continuing charging so they offered to build the bridge if they could continue, so I heard, did we pay for the tunnel in 1st place & if so why are we paying to use it anyway, ********.

About 5 years ago I asked an attendant how much meny is taken per week. She said £110,000!! So 5 years ago the were making £5,720,000 per year. Why on earth would they want to scrap the toll!!!!:sign_unfair:

i've just gone past the camera's and there's signs saying there not in use yet.

Still not seen an accident on it.

Thank god for that, i went through them the saturday before Pod when visiting a friend. I think i was got by a Truvelo on the way home from pod, Satnav stated 60 MPH speed limit, but it had been reduced to 50, although i wasnt doing 60 due to traffic i must have missed the start of the reduction. Meh !! First 3 in 20 years of driving

Are the ones with signs not the cameras before the tunnels, in Kent.
- I still don't think the cameras are live yet, as takes them long enough to sort these out. - I think they'll put average camera signs up first too, as they did on A127 recently.

I use these every day, also never seen accident.

Don't three people have to die on the road in question before speed cameras are fitted?
Probably had three suicides jump off the bridge and it still counts.

You're turning into a one man army from your toys list, I'm sure its getting longer.

There's an old saying, what she dont know wont hurt her & someone with those toys certainly would know how to hide them, no matter how big they are, lol, just when you buy new one, buy her new bags, shoes & clothes, that'll shut her up, from primark I may add as could get expensive, lmao

I didn't know about the 50mph.... But I was on the bridge about 6 weeks ago (Saturday afternoon) in the 2nd to right lane, a car in the lane to my left, pulled out into my lane and then into the far right. The traffic in the far right lane was stationary further up, it braked and the car behind him went straight into the back of it. It was an old Rover Metro with 3 people squeezed into the back, smoke, glass and plastic puffed out and spewed all over my car. I've never been so close to an accident before and I was amazed how quickly it happened (obviously it does happen quickly) Everything just squashes, everything breaks and stops quickly!
Why can't they just scrap the ****** toll.... Delays are only going to get worse as drivers are searching for that extra 50p!!!!

Dont be stupid, how thick can you be, scrap the toll, why would we wanna do that & lose all that revenue, that would be far to sensible for local councils & goverment, lol, scuse the sarcasm & not directed at you mate.
