current economic climate - did you get much off sticker/ screen price?

be it used, new, from dealer, independant or private?

My old man just traded in his A3 Tdi for a CLK, got an extra £200 part ex for the Audi, but not a penny off screen price

The Passat I just brought, was on Autotrader for £7895 with a Trader.
When I rang him he said, he has an agreement with a local VW dealership & the car was there, so viewed it there instead. - In the VW dealership, it was up for £8895 on the window sticker.

I brought it off him (not dealership), for £7600

so not huge savings

mart, did you have a part ex or was it a straight cash buy or with finance etc.?

Dealers are only interested in shifting cars, not taking them in, so p/x'ing a car in is a sure way of getting the worst possible deal, try and sell private for the best deal. I find that different dealers offer different discounts, so try and play them off each other. The car market is pretty bad, so if they don't give you a good deal of the asking price, walk away.

I know there is a downturn but out of the 2 Ford dealers I use both are rushed off there feet, one of them registered 550 cars in Feb. I've been keeping an eye of Focus ST's and the nice specced ones seem to sell within a week.

No Part X, that wasn't too well, so just straight up cash!

3% off a new FORD Ka, book trade in price for a Yaris in p/x, 3 year PCP.

Crap service, scruffy showroom, and they let me walk away for £7 a month!

TOYOTA were very good, and at least tried to get our business, the AYGO didnt tick the boxes and the wife fancied a change after 5 yrs Yaris ownersip, so no deal done unfortunately.

Credit crunch? Some one should tell my local FORD dealer.
Im sure there are good ones out there.

So looks like the wife is keeping the Yaris for a bit.

cheers
Paul

there are good ford dealers out there, the trouble is it seems that they can sell them compared to Toyota who have lots stock piled, although it seems the new fiesta is taking nearly 45% of all there registrations. Oh and forget the KA get the Fiat 500

A friend just got a new car and the dealer reccons he`s rushed off his feet with mobility cars ???? seems that if you have a limp you get a car ***

Im pretty sure my local FORD dealer isnt representative, but no less disappointing.

I was reading up on the Ka, (EVO iirc) and apparently its the same as the FIAT, but with different suspension, mapping, steering and trim. Which all add up to a better car if you belive the review.

It would be a second car to get the wife to and from work and the odd school run so its more about what it looks like and reliability than anything else.
And the wife doesnt like the look of the FIAT, neither do I as it happens.
Bit too `cutesy` even for her.

cheers
Paul

I'm just not sure about the new KA, I loved the old model though !! I'd go for the new Fiesta over the KA

That was the plan right up until we got up close to one at the dealers, the new one is a big ol` thing.
Nice car, just bigger than whats needed, it cant be much saller than the current FOCUS!
Then she saw a white Ka sitting outside and the wife decided she wanted that instead on the basis it was nearer the size of the Yaris than the Fiesta and cheaper.

I just got my new A3 thats on order for 16500 With Sport Pack (a freebie from Audi) so not a bad deal all with my other options. I recon that the list price should have been 17070 + 1175 Sport + Options +490 (£18735 list) so i am fairly happy with that.

Not quite the deals i have been used to, on ,i last 3 i got between 17%-27% Discount

12% from Audi is not to be sniffed at IMO

it's spelt BOUGHT!

I'm dyslexic, so I have problems with spelling!

was that really necessary!
