Hi,

Have recently bought a Y2000 1.8T QS. Nice car but not as pokey as I thought it would be so I changed the MAF sensor and replaced the DV with a 710N. Will order a new N75 next week for good measure. I had the turbo inlet pipe off and checked the impellor wheel and it moves nice and freely with little lateral movement for a 90K car.

My first question is are these DBW cars?

I logged the car on VAG COM and did a third gear run to 6500 RPM. The throttle angle never got above 83.3 when I was expecting 100 - any ideas. There was an adaptation error when I got the car so did an adaptation and the status is OK so I am a tad confused.

Also whilst looking through the measuring blocks I couldn't find a block to measure boost (actual vs specified).

Finally my MAF maxed out at 150.34 g/s - about right?

Sorry for all the questions but any help will be appreciated. I have done a search by the way but it's difficult to find everything you want.

Cheers
Daz

They are drive by cable afaik, have a look at the throttlebody/valve cover, and see if the throttle cable is present.

MAF/0.8 is approx BHP. Yours is therefore making approx 187HP, 7 more than book.

block 115 is the boost measurements iirc.

Thanks, now I am confused as I tried block 115 and it was completely blank!

Yes you are right - checked the Throttle Body and it's a cable, assumed it was DBW. Any thoughts about the throttle angle? For the most part it's in Part Throttle mode. Enrichment mode is intermitent!!

check the throttle is actually opening fully when the pedal is fully depressed? Might just need to adjsut the cable

its only available on DBW ecu's afaik.

A lot of the 1.8T;s dont actually do any boost monitoring at all. Most of the longitudinal B5 motors dont even have a map sensor/

If the throttle range is too far out then it'll throw up a code for throttle position AFAIK. I suppose taking the hose off and checking the throttle plate is open would be good too though.

You could give the throttle body a good clean too while you are there.
