Another 'How Much?' Thread...

I know these threads can be a bit annoying and the easy answer is "look at the Glass's/Parkers guide" but the fact is that as of late they're not all that accurate. Asking prices and what seems realistic seem to be all over the place.

So anyway, as i'm starting to look around at a replacement in the next couple of months what sort of price would you guys think is realistic?

2007 07 reg (registered July 07)
A3 2.0T S-Line quattro, 3 door, Avus Silver Pearl (special ed.)
11.5K on the clock (just serviced)
Bodywork and interior is MINT
Full leather
Symphony II with BOSE
Int. Light Pack
GSM Phone Prep
Few little added bits like OEM alloy gearknob and S3 vents.

It's a lightly used, well cared for, original example (no technical mods, repairs or anything). Never been near the red line, washed every other week with Meg's products. No kids, pets or smokers and it was an Audi vehicle before i bought it. Still got almost 18 months of warranty remaining.

So what do you think? I was probably going to start high-ish and say £18k ono....Probably accept £17 privately.

Any opinions would be most appreciated!

The prices vary massively!!

I think thats what you are looking at... About £15,500. That has higher mileage but is newer... That ones frm audi too...

But the cheapest one shows that they're not selling hence why he has gone so cheap... That one has been there for a while IIRC.

Its a bit of a gamble in this market - i just sold the TT in my sig for £6900 and trade in was 5k.

The market is very fluctuant (if that is a word lol).

But the max id try would be £16,500 (maybe 17k) and take 15,500+

But im sure anywould would buy frm Audi as opposed to private so you have to take that into cosideration...

I've stopped selling cars - my cousin in japan use to ship them to me but an imported evo 4 costs me around 3,500 and they're selling for that much now...My mate bought a 02 CTR for 4k...

Im sure thats not what you wanted to hear...

Well webuyanycar.com say they would give me £7.2K for my 2005 S-Line TDI DSG.

As i thought really, it's a bit of a gamble with regards to price.
kaz219, i did notice that none of those examples are quattro which is a bit of a bargaining tool (probably worth all of £500!)
To be honest i'll probably go down the route of part ex. If i can batter down the dealer on the car i want to meet me half way then i don't mind so much.
I'll be going for a bigger engined car so any deal should work in my favour.... Hopefully!

Thats too cheap - whats the miles?

i paid £11k for mine in June 08 with 60k and its pretty much the same as yours but no xenons or heated seats! They were going for £12k+ back then and thought i got mine cheap lol

There arent any quatros for sale so you could technically price it at £17,000 and see what you get!

I knew i missed something!! Id try it - If there's someone specifically looking for 2.0T Quattro - they will have to buy yours as atm, theres non for sale in the country!

So your estiamte wasnt too far off IMO - but its just what a buyer will consider reasonable extra amount to justify having 4 wheel drive. I think around £1k to £500 is fair...

I bought a 56 plate 2.0t fsi s-line 21,500 miles for £12,995.
I wound say £15,500-£17,000 maybe at the moment due to every thing going on. If you want a new car just part ex it and get the dealer to go down on the price of the new car your after.

Thanks for that kaz, much appreciated and i think you're right. £17,000 ono is probably my ball park and i should be prepared to accept £15,500-16,000.

I'm guessing if i went to a dealer with no trade in and a decent deposit i stand to get a much better deal than with a trade in also. I think i'm going to have to terrorise a few salesmen at varous BMW and Audi dealerships and see what the situation is. Let battle commence! haha.

I have the same car as yours on a dec 56 plate same miles 12k was up for sale a couple of weeks ago,advertised for 15k heard nothing dropped it to 14k,got a call from a guy who wanted it but he would only offer 13k so refused.Then someone else wanted it for 12k so i took it off the market,will run it until end of the year then hand it back.So your pricing might be a bit optimistic in todays market.

At the moment advertised prices mean nothing. It's what the cars are selling for that's important. People are having to take a lot less than they want to actually get the sale. One interesting guide to actual prices paid is the 'completed listings' feature on eBay, and it shows people are often paying far less for cars than you'd expect.

It really is a buyers market at the moment, so if you want it sold, then you might have to take less than you'd like.

The same problems mean dealers aren't paying top money for part-ex's, so you're unlikely to do better that way - don't forget you're likely to get a much better price on your new car without a car to chop in.

Well my work situation has changed and i no longer have to commute daily over any real distance so i'm looking to take advantage of the discounts on 'less desirable', bigger engined cars.
Top of my list is the BMW 335i M Sport Coupe. Some good prices knocking about and BMW are knocking a lot more money off than Audi at the minute so they're a lot of car for the money. S5's are coming down a lot too but maybe still a little too pricey.
I'm also not ruling out an S3 if the discount is big enough. It's a case of hassling dealers and seeing what they'll do!

I know exactly what you're saying, this is why i'm looking into swapping the car a lot earlier than i originally wanted to. I'm preparing myself for the fact that if i put it on sale now i might have to wait months to get anything like what i want. I can do without having people kicking the tyres for the next 4 months but thats the situation we're all in.
I think £16k isn't unreasonable, yes it's optimistic for a quick sale but if i'm prepared to strick it out then fingers crossed the right buyer might come along.

Again, this is why i'm looking to get rid early. It might take several months but i'd rather have the cash and no car to part ex. I don't mind taking less than i'd like if it means getting a heavy discount when i walk into the dealers. No pain no gain and all that!

As far as trade-in prices are concerned the dealers do vary a lot at the moment. For my current car I was offered £11,000 by one dealer and £12,250 by another. Both were prepared to offer the same 10% off a new A3.

My mate took me for a spin in a white M3 - new shape... Foookkkk meeeeee lol - the engine sounds like its gona come out the bay - awesomee

Was really solid, interior is good quality and couldnt really fault it!

My mum had a beamer for 8 years (318) and it was good. Head gasket did blow (£1k) and needed a maf but apart from that, top notch!

You got to consider one of these though -

The handing is spot on and its fast as fudgee - c230 i think that is!

Love the front though

That has a kit on it - i think its a sport one or something, not too sure - all the others apart from the amg look dull lol
