Bluetooth/Bong favour please

Just an update to say that Stu's fix is still working fine. Previous attempts to adjust the bong volume have always reverted to loud when the phone volume is adjusted afterwards, but this solution appears to be permanent.

Well done on your perseverance Stu, I had been told many times that it was not possible to adjust, including by Audi dealers.

Thanks

The knowledge on here embarrasses Audi dealerships IMO.
I agree - great perseverance Stu.
I wouldn't like to get rid of the bong altogether though - I quite like being "told" that the Bluetooth connection has been made.

Second that, its amazing how much more respect I get from the stealers head tech now as before he wouldnt give me time of day, now its like hey fella, how's it going, a smile, then talk audi tech & he actually helps me & goes away & checks **** for free, guess he now thinks oh he's not as dumb a feck as I thought(as though, head now doesnt fit through door), lol, but some stuff you can see even they dont know as the look on there faces when you tell them things, the parts guy just knows when I call forget my chassis, year etc etc, cause its out the window with what I add to the car or change for better/newer

But tbh the signal symbol on the rns would indicate if its working so realistically who needs a bong(ye ye wait for it) but have to say after the trials & tribulations with stu testing on my car, the so much quieter bong is a godsend, only ****** noise to get rid of now is that loud screeching you get when making a call from the damn Tocco

To update my J version wont allow me to set anything but 77 on end, so passed that to audi to check as mines newer than some on here & they can get 22 for UK, where as mine seems to show US(still works but its one of those niggling things huh in back of mind)

Good work Stu. Although my bong wasn't as loud as others, this has still allowed me to lower the volume to the minimum.

By the way, did you get anywhere with the RNS-E FM reception fix?

The problem with some dealerships is (IMHO) two fold -

1. Lack of product knowledge. When I went to Audi the week before last about this problem the front desk service guy wouldn't do anything unless I had a telephone that was on his list of approved handsets (even though it was 18 months out of date) and until I had the cradle installed. We had a bit of a 'debate' over it and eventually I convinced him to go seek advice. The M/Tech came out and we had a chat, seemed a very nice guy and quite knowledgeable - As you would expect.

2. Technicians aren't enthusiasts, they go in at 8am and leave at 5pm. What happens in between is simply a means to pay the bills. Many of them actually have little or no interest in cars at all.

I can't take the credit for the fix really, it was published on an Audi TSB and it was Sebastian at RT that helped me out.

It's on the list of things to look at but tbh time is against me at the moment. I know what I want/need to do but I need to know what's fitted to a car with the problem.

I'd also like to get to the bottom of the Auido Pilot connection on the RNS-E.
