Sounds a bit stupid..But,My log book says 1.8t sport,i know the struts should be red. However mine are black, with an audi stamp on them!i have no receipts from the previous owner(who kept eeeverrything) indicating they possibly havent been changed. The fronts i know have been with sachs uprated dampers.

What colour markings should there be on the springs?

Help!

What year is your car?

Early Sport dampers were blue, superceded by red from July '98>.

cos they will look like this...

if you don't have them....wanna buy mine?!

Thanks olds kool,1be...sports suspension/shock absorbtion. So it would appear i do have it.

Thanks for the replys

well that doesnt mean the sport parts are still on the car...

Mine is a 96 and had blue front shocks (ie the original sport items) and black rears. I've now fitted a pair of red shocks from an S4 to the front (they'd done much less miles than mine). The rears arent OE, they've clearly been swapped out by a previous owner and are *****. I'll change them at some point, but dont really fancy spending £300 on new parts from audi!

JCB those are quattro shocks ye? if so they wont fit the rear of a FWD, although the fronts are fine.

If the car has black shocks they are NOT sport items. Whats the ride height like? if its at sport ride height but has black shocks i presume that someones changed the shocks for non-sport versions at some point.

didn't know the rears were different. what is different with the mounting point or is it just a travel issue?
