Hi,

Picked up my new S3 Sportback last week. Can anyone give me the names of a few insurance companies that have a record of the car? I've tried a few online quotes and it doesn't show up. I'm currently using the free Audi insurance, only got a couple of days left on it though.....

Who would be good for me etc. I'm 22 with direct and the insurance is on suspension till the new one arrives.

Can anyone suggest anyone else

Bell for me also :)

24 yrs old with 4 yrs no claims with a 2005 3.2. Can't remember what I got it down to was under £800 i think.

May I add...be very careful with Bell. I am in the middle of Insuring my S3 for delivery on Friday. My current Insurance broker has quoted me and my GF on the car at £550. Full NCB, garaged, 37, no accidents, no points, etc.....
Bell quoted me £330! However, when i spoke to Bell they asked about extras. I have the Buckets seast £2k, Sat nav, 19" alloys. Bell WILL NOT replace these in event of a claim! They will replace with standard parts only. So normal seats, standard radio and standard alloys. I would have to pay the difference to get the options fitted back as were. So if some scrote breaks into your car, takes the satnav, damages a bucket seat, you are fooooked and will cost you your excess plus about £2k I guess. No peace of mind for me. And I think Admiral do the same.

You have been warned. If you have no optional extras, go for Bell, cheap as chips. But read the small print and if in doubt call them and ask!

Yeah i noticed that although my brother is also insured with them and damaged the front wing and alloy. The alloy being a wheel upgrade (from factory) and the wheel was replaced without question.

They were really good with the claim i,e went stright to main dealers and what needed sorting was sorted.

Wouldn't even quote me. heheheh

Bell were good for me also.

Any thoughts on Bell?

David

Sounds like you were lucky Edition.
I didn't know insurance companies did this until someone mentioned it and I did a bit of research. It's quite worrying if you didnt know and had £1k's of extras.

I have just been reading. I reckon if you declare its "value" as the purcahse price inc options + inform them them options were part of the price etc + list options. You maybe ok?

Won't work Dave, becuase they see your car as the basic S3 model, they would value it as such. You would have very little say in the value of the car if it were a wrtie off and/or totally destroyed or stolen. If you do declare all the optional extras they will insure them, but at extra cost.

Worked for me with Bell.

I declared every factory option on the car and declared my additional mod's and they are all listed out on the policy. So I'm guessing so long as you're specific it's covered???

Exactly. Admiral seems better though because they cover you abroad.

I think that is spot on Jamie, just make sure they know about your 'extras' and are quoting accordingly.

Cheers - I have a mate works in corporate insurance and he's told me that usually by listing all factory options you are guarenteed for everthing to be covered safely - and generally the policy is unaffected from a cost perspective unless they are quite pricey options - eg Sat Nav etc.
