Well, after all my initial DPF problems being sorted just over a year ago, I'd had 12 months of problem-free motoring. No issues with excess noise, raised idle speeds or lumpy acceleration.
Then they serviced it.
Following the first service at the end of July, I've had loads of DPF problems. The car has been used for mainly short urban trips and is performing a forced regeneration cycle about once a week or 100-120 miles. It's spent about 25% of the mileage since the service in regeneration mode!
Interestingly, my boss's A5 3.0TDI is currently in the dealer with a DPF warning light on and he's had loads of problems since his first service a short while ago too!
It's patently obviously to me that, in an attempt to limit the number of filters they're having to replace due to terminal clogging, Audi have changed their software to make the regeneration pattern far more "agressive". I've spoken at length to my dealer about this and literally demanded that the old software be reinstalled on the car but they say they're not allowed to do that by Audi UK.
This post is partly a warning and also a request that anyone else who's had a recent service and noticed a change in the behaviour of their DPF to post here as I'd be interested to see how many people are affected by this.
This whole DPF debacle is a disgrace and frankly, no matter how good the car may be in other regards, this will be the last Audi I ever own.
