Posted that and some others up a while ago!

They are some even better ones in that group of pics!

Needs spacers and an ear pinback op :)

Ha ha ha, funny i've already stopped noticing the big mirrors.
Though has anyone seen the new GTi pics?
How come they get lovely mirrors that don't look mahoooosive!

wasn't he talking about the old girl in the drivers seat?

S3 has always been my defination of a hot hatch, absolutely love them!

I can not like that very easily. Sorry. Give me the first gen car any day.

Don't like the the extra creases.
Don't like the front spoiler (old S3 spot surrounds much better)
Don't like the lights (cumbersome, don't fit in with the rest of the car)
Definitely Don't like the mirrors. Ears only a mother could love.
Rear track needs widening. Front is not low enough.

Has anyone got an idea of how long the planned production life is of the facelift version and when an all new A3 is due?

Ps Not a big fan of the facelift either. Like the shape of the grille but not much else TBH.

Dame Ed lights; with a squint. Just not classy. Sorry. Still like the new wheels though...

Not keen. Ok I'm an owner of the pre-facelift but i would not rush out to change.

I feel the jewelery DRL's are just that and an after thought squeezed in.
Too many lines at front now too.

And those LUGS. Sorry no.

No I'll stick to my smoother finished model. Thanx.

Would love one. Slight ajustment to the ride height and a different set of wheels will make it one mean mother.

Seems as if we keep coming back to the same discussion about the facelift v's pre-facelift!

Do i detect an air of jealousy from pre-facelift owners? Im saying from all of them as some appear to be quite diplomatic with their thoughts on the facelift?

New facelift front is definately more aggresive than previously rounded one (look at Madalex's recent posts). The mirrors, albeit, a little bigger than previous, have now gained sharp LED indicators incorporated in the housing and have resulted in doing away with the front wing ones! The DRL LED's are like sparkling diamonds, they can be seen from a distance and they really give an added presence and 'WOW' factor to the updated model! The flat bottom steering wheel now as standard! (should of been first time round!) Available in more colours, improved haldex system! More responsive, less lag at lower RPM than before, all round a sharper looking S3!

Well, that's my opinion! not being biased because i have one on order!

:whistle2:

Let those with the 2006 version be happy and those with the 2008/9 version be even happier!!! No doubt the discussion will continue, any further comments/analysis from both parties........?

I aint adding to this..............this topic has had the **** ripped out've of it in many other threads!!!

Good luck with it though......

i'm usually one for the latest and greatest, but to new facelift does not do it fo me.

Indicators in wing mirrors and DRL's are an improvement, i like em, but the other changes (front end and wheels) do more harm than good

Pre face lift is the best

:end_of_discction:

:p

The more I see them the more I like them. Even the headlights dont bother me anymore.

Red doesnt do it any justice at all ...The only disapointed I have is that its hard to tell the difference between a S-Line model & a S3

I've got to say, i don't really think it looks that different. If they'd kept the old shape mirrors and put the indicators into them, now that would be an improvement. Like the new lights though.

That pic does not do it justice at all TBH.

Like Dave says red does not suit it...

How about an opinion from a neutral point of view, seen as I have neither...

The original is with out doubt the better looking, dont like the wheels though sorry :sorry: just like the R32, the wheels let the overall finish of the car down.

Not for a second saying the face-lift is not a nice car I just prefer the pre facelift  ETTO I suppose.

Well I hope we can all get on together and agree to disagree about the facelift or pre-facelift....wherever your loyalties lie. As long as we never get to the burning Audi flags or chaining ourselves to the showroom door until they promise to never change anything ever again!! Anyway, maybe we should all get together, have a beer and a cuddle and be happy with whatever we drive.

not sure about the headlights, look abit weird!

I really hate the LED DRLs. I've seen them on A5, A4 and a TT-S on the road and each time I think back to Clarkson's comment - "looks like a council house at Christmas".

If I did buy a car with those I would turn them off, permanently.

Mind you the stupid EU will force us all to have them soon, regardless of the issues it causes for the visibility of cyclists and motorcyclists.

Wasnt going to post but...

I like the face lift no more or less than the pre-facelift.
Both great looking cars IMO.

To me the changes are pretty minor relatively speaking and I reckon the un-initiated wouldnt tell them apart unless they were side by side.

Take the number plates off and ask Joe public to pick out the `new` one and they would struggle.

I dont think the face lift looks particularly more modern or up to date, just a bit different.
Its almost as if AUDI have made the changes for the sake of making changes but all said and done its still a great looking car.
Certainly hasnt done it any harm.

I wouldnt change to the face lift just because it was the `new one` but when Im ready for an update I wouldnt hesitate. The subtle tweaks dont put me off at all.

So, both slightly different, but both cool cars IMO.

cheers

Paul
