How Strange...... 965 miles to empty..

I filled up my car this evening with Ultimate Deisel from BP and the car told me straight away I have 965 mile to empty??????

Max I have had is 485 before.... Any one heard of this.

It has just passed 6000 miles.
 
depends on how you drove the last 50-100 miles. If you drove it like your granny the range would be very high, whereas if you drove it like you stole it it would be quite low.

I've had 850km range on mine after a couple of fills before. The most I've ever got out of a tank was 721km on one long journey (including about 150km at 140-150km/h - so I probably could have got a bit longer out of the tank )
 
I had a bit of a worry one night coming home on a long journey, no miles range showing on the trip and 25 miles to the next station, I drove it VERY slowly all the way there, and when I filled the trip was showing 545 miles range lol..

I quickly got it down to 250 haha..
 
Marc's right, all goes on how gently you drove the last few miles, most I've seen is 580, the wife saw 700 once though
 
i always get around 600 miles to empty in mine and i drive like a nutter mosty
and i get a good 56mpg average

& lets hope she keeps it that way huh, lol, lol, justifies your lower range
 
My A3 really didn't like 'fancy' diesel (if that's what BP ultimate diesel is)
Although I never got weird DIS readings about mileage, it did seem to confuse the hell out of 'something'.
So it ran weirdly, with surging on a constant throttle etc.
Back to cheap stuff and it was fine.
 
Well thanks for the advice.... The reading is now 505 and I've done 68 miles since it read 965.... mmmmmmm think I cane'd it...

I was driving like miss daisy before the fill up as I wanted to get to a BP to get my nectar points...

Not had any issues with the 'fancy' Diesel I have been putting in and seems to last longer... granted not 965 miles..
 
According to the manual the trip fuel consumption is based on usage over the last 30 miles.

I've been in the '**** no fuel left' situation and coasted nearly 4 miles down a hill, using the accelerator once for about 5 seconds. Coasted directly into the filling station and mine said 940miles after I'd filled up. Soon got it back down to 400. :D
Most I've actually ever got was 550.
